RTX 5090 pricing spikes – 55% increase

You are simply ignoring that the initial response to you was a humorous response.
His attitude was clearly pointing to some warring.

"an amount that will be worthless the next day" "won't have money to buy anything else"

and then

"Calm down, princess, i won't suck your dick" "cause you can be a mindless consumer"

Like, ok...?

"I was talking about the money you make from your older card, which now it seems would be even more worthless" => and this is stupid.

I'm not going to discuss this further as you have fully entrenched yourself in this for some reason. I'm fine moving on from this.
Nah I get that I was maybe too on the defensive, but again I stayed perfectly polite. Also I wish I was rich lol.

Once again, high-end graphics cards are set to see their prices skyrocket. NVIDIA is expected to raise prices on its RTX 5090 and RTX 5090 D V2 (Chinese version) GPUs in the near future.

These two models, which already sell for over $4,000, will likely each go up by about $300. The cost of memory is, of course, being cited as the reason. NVIDIA will therefore pass this new increase on to its graphics cards.

As a result, the RTX 5090 will cost between $4,500 and $5,000. It's worth noting that it was launched at $1,999 in January 2025.

I remember when a XX90 card was around $1000 and a XX80 card was around $650...

At some point I hope the whole market just fucking crashes and burns. Fuck everyone.

Fuck AI and fuck Nvidia

Agreed. But it's the mega-conglomerate billionaires along with their Data Centers and construction plans all across the country no matter where you live, who are behind the hikes. They want to suck up the ground water too. The amount of RAM and GPU's needed for these things are astronomical. Nvdia and Samsung (examples) are just the dealers. Smh, AI is more a cancer (digital cancer?) which is spreading. If not already done so on "classified AI models", it will view humanity as the main problem. Not the weather, not the seas, not the birds or the bees. The Earth will survive, possibly

Sorry guys, we need all the GPU's to create our first child.

Love to you all

Sam Altman's face must be studied. He has literally the most punchable face a human being could ever have.

Glad I bought into the scaremongering at the end of last year and bought a new rig. That same one is already around 1.500 EUR more expensive now and after news like this it's prolly gonna be over 2.000 EUR more expensive soon. That is wild.

How is it that people that do video game podcasts don't talk about this at all? $4,500 for a 5090 is stupid.

Nothing surprising that this point any more. People were all over this topic in last 2025. I guess everyone will start talking about it again when prices actually go down - which, from what it looks like won't happen before next year at the earliest.

Yeah, there isn't much to say. In Nov. of last year, I bought my new PC and was telling people if they wanted new hardware they better go ahead and buy it but a lot of people thought this crisis was fake and would blow over. Here we are six months later and prices are even worse and there are no signs of them getting better.

Last week I re-pasted my 4090 and even though I've been doing stuff like this for years, that was the most stressed I've ever been until I got it booted back up. I can't replace it and I'm not paying $4k for a graphics card so I was sweating it. I hate this market so much.

So I'm surprised when DLSS 5 got shown off, more people did mention the fact that it was shown on two 5090s. I would have thought more people would have been reminded people that you'd need to spend $8,000 to use DLSS 5. Or $4K-$5K if they get it down to one 5090.

And when is the 6090 supposed to release?

Probably next fall before the consoles do. It will be the same as before like 30xx series.

Its going to work on all 5000 series. not just 5090.

now to what extend that will hit the performance? who knows. but clearly this is just a taste of what the 6000 can do, which is going to be focued heavily on path tracing / ray tracing cores and AI like this one here more than raw performance. its very clear the direction they are taking.

which make sense., because if you strip the game from its ray tracing, any card from 4080 and above will run 4k 100 fps no problem ( with dlss quality of course ). its the ray tracing that is killing the games and its what Sony, MS, AMD and Nvidia are trying to reach.

anyone who buy this at any point these days is crazy. in a year the 6000 series is here. just save your money till then. new NM means a much higher jump from 4000 to 5000

It was already too expensive to justify buying at launch. This hasn't changed my mind :pie_open_mouth:, and that hurts me to say since I love PC gaming and I'm a huge believer in raytracing as the future of games, but it's true :pie_pensive:

With frame gen and the constant advances in upscaling tech, the gap between high end tech and the rest should hopefully shrink. The juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze at that point.

This is from newegg.ca so the prices are in Canadian dollars

Aren't these cards also prone to breaking due to damaging the cables or whatever from overheating? Did I read that on here or am I misremembering? If it's true it makes it even crazier. Imagine spending this much on a product that doesn't even have a good rep for longevity.

I know you arent. Sorry to disappoint but I think I know MY life better than you :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I can buy a 5090, a Switch 2 and two PS5 Pro every month and have enough money left to live perfectly well. It's not about the money itself, it's about the price I'm willing to pay.
I still the remember the golden rule. People who have money don't need to talk about it.

Nice! Good for you!

Regardless of whether or not you can afford it lol, you should be concerned, because these crazy high prices mean that fewer people will be able to buy these cards, which means less incentive for devs to bother targetting them.

No this is not how it works.
Devs only make games for the 000000000000.1% of true hardcore gamers

As I said here I was too on the defensive, I'm just tired of people throwing shit. Like "muh you won't have enough to buy a new card if you sell your 4090", what is this nonsense?
Nvidia is a shit company with shitty pricing, we can all agree on that but no need to spout out nonsense. Selling a 4090 I could totally buy a new card like a 5080 (maybe just add a few bucks and that's it) or a 5070 and save a bit of money, or the latest AMD card but it's just not worth it, just like the upgrade to a 5090 is not worth it IMO.

I honestly didn't think it would cause so much drama, like ok I sounded like a imbecile, fair, but come on now his take is bad. Anyway it's been months now so who cares.

Nice! Good for you!
Not anymore, renovating a house is expensive :messenger_loudly_crying:

I know the feeling. I got my rig pre-assembled but I had to install the 5090 myself. I was sweating bricks.

The Gainward Phantom I have was $5000 (currency converted) in Norway in February. Thanks to Trump tanking the US Dollar it's "only" $4000 now. Lol.
