calibration now happens at the hardware level rather than being limited to basic software tweaks! The tool writes calibration data directly to the controller's internal memory. That means the adjustments persist at the hardware level and aren't undone by standard firmware updates. In practical terms, once the calibration is set, it sticks.

First, go here to get started:

Awesome, thanks for the link. I got a pesky cocksucker at home that is getting the treatment tonight and I am not talking about the wife!

Awesome somebody actually created a tool from that news about a week ago:

I guess it means you can calibrate your sticks (zero position, max) and write it to the controller (and it won't get patched out) might help with correcting mechanical drift to a new zero position but not sure what else it's good for.

This is great for a free solution, but for those with PCs/laptops to run this on for console controllers:

I'll mention UKers should buy controllers from Curry's and take instant replacement on it.

It lasts 3 years and covers stick drift and everything like that, no repair done, instant swap to a new one. Unlimited swaps in those 3 years too.

It doesn't cover accidental but if you do drop it and its a loose trigger or button stuck just say it happened while playing, they dont care to pry that much ime, they'll just swap it out.*

£13 if the controllers RRP/"was price" is under £50 and £17 if over £50. That covers prices for normal Xbox, PS and Switch controllers, if its fancy £100+ controllers then probably will go up a bit in price.

They don't check the serial number so you could buy multiple controllers and only take it on one of them and as long as they're the same colour/style you'll be fine to claim on any of them unlimited times in the 3 years.

If you want to be extra cautious and avoid suspicious then buy the first controller with the instant replacement and then the other controllers without it in a separate transaction so you have the "uninsured" controllers on a separate receipt.

Really theres no process to tie the instant replacement plan to a specific serial numbered product on their instore systems so they cant really prove which one its on.

Great for parents buying 2 or more controllers for the kids, or just sharing the plan with friends.

The only time I saw it refused a claim was when the controller had clearly been rage-thrown or crushed underneath something, pretty rare though, even if the controller had cosmetic damage (like ripped/worn down stick rubber) then developed a trigger issue or stick drift they would replace it.

In fact, just say it has stick drift regardless, I dont even know how they could test it anyway. If they question too much just go to another Curry's until they accept it.

(I dont have shares in Curry's or anything btw lol, just spreading the message, I'm sure theres similar things in other retailers or even ones with accidental cover too, its just Curry's is what I'm familiar with)
