Nate the Hate: General Nintendo Direct second week of June

Disagree. Of course a remake is going to look "better", but the mistake of the 3DS remake was making everything more colorful and brighter in many places, getting rid of the dark tones that made OOT feel like dark fantasy.

Some examples:

Biggest offender is the final boss, they absolutely butchered the presentation here:

Link going from cool hero to a dork wasn't nice at all either:

Imo a proper remake of OOT should look way closer to something like TP than this, just getting rid of all the ugly bloom ofc.
Looks good but dated, people will call Nintendo lazy if they do something like that, StarFox is a good indication of what they are going to do. Remember that they are going to make a remake for the new audience too, not only for 40+ old fans.

I like the style of the 3DS version. Different tone but not bad.

Well I'm not saying it has to look exactly like TP at a graphical level, just at a "visual design" level. Like having the same vibe, just with better graphics.

I'm just hoping they don't fucking it up too much nor "disnefy" it. Would love to have a reason to get a S2, since OOT is my favorite game.

I'm hoping for some 3DS ports.

I would love to see Metroid II Remake, Kid Icarus Uprising, Fire Emblem Awakening/Fates and Mario 3D Land find their way to Switch.

3DS had so many amazing games but I never upgraded from the original and the form factor was just too small to enjoy for long periods of time, and it'd be a shame for these games to remain unplayable on modern hardware.

These are some official art works from the N64 version, a well done cel shading/anime (More anime than BoTW) art style could work great too.

That game (pretty that was the default Mario Bros 2 outside Japan) is so shite. I didn't even like it as a kid. It was like the ugly middle child between the original and the god-like Mario Bros 3.
What the heck you talking about? Even though it's essentially a reskinned advergame it was still made by the same goats who made the actual Mario games. I loved it as a kid and I just replayed it last year, totally holds up and is a great platformer.

Luigis Mansion 4, Mario 3D and OOT, any two out of those three would make me forgive their long silence.

Nah they butchered the art design and visual presentarion way too much.

There's two options here.

Option 1: Follow the original Zelda artstyle from one of the first concept artists (My dream artstyle for Zelda would be Katsuya Terada's old work, look it up it's uniquely gorgeous yet has a darkness to it)

This is the path Starfox Remake recently took but they only half-commited in my opinion.

Option 2: More colorful and bright, but Nintendo's way ('Disneyfied' doesn't even make sense when they've never done this).

Personal opinion. Understand that it's a minority opinion, but for me it's the weakest 2D Mario game.

Very cool, but that's not how the original game looks, and imo a remake should be faithful to the looks of the game it's being remade and not whatever artwork.

Yeah I think I've seen the artwork you mention. Something like that would be amazing.

That was their original vision of the game, obviously due to technical limitations of the N64 we end up getting that graphic style. So, is not out of the possibilities.

Look at this… looks really good, i think.
Looks cool for what could be Hyrule Field or the Zora River but I still need my dungeons to feel dark and grim. :goog_relieved:

But yeah I might crap my pants if they go full Ghibli, as long as they meet my demand when it comes to the darker places of the game. A post time-skip Market or Bottom of the Well looking like what you posted would be way out of tone.

Ocarina of Time was never supposed to be dark fantasy, what the hell are you talking about? Just because an game have some darker areas it doesn't make something dark fantasy. Also look like TP? No, completely different styles between games, you clearly don't get it.

There's way more stuff, like how the Shadow Temple was supposed to be a place of torture, how Nabooru spends 7 years brainwashed by some witches, or how you spend the whole second half of the game in an scenario that depicts sadness and loss everywhere you go: Malon's place is fucked up, Kokiri's place is overrun by monsters, Gorons are all prisoners and the Zora got frozen.

Pretty dark stuff I'd say, specially in contrast with the first half of the game and a big departure from later entries in the series.
And imo those dark-fantasy tones are some of the strongest points of the game.

I want:

Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch 2 Edition
(new characters, upgraded online modes and netcode, whole new story mode)

Metroid Prime 4 DLC
(New areas and more story content)

Ocarina Remake
(Graphics better than the Wii U E3 Demo, a smart styled remake focused on upgrading it to modern standards while still keeping the essence of the game intact)

Metroid Prime Trilogy 4K

Mario Kart World DLC

F-Zero 2027

I definitely hope they are not just using the BOTW art style for this. I feel like you need to go for a more realism style look to keep it faithful to OoT style.

Also hope they are not planning to split this into 2 releases. (ie young Link and old Link)...

By the way how did this look in the 3DS version? I never played it.

I feel sad that I'm indifferent for a potential OoT remake. Normally I should be excited for this but because I love BotW and TotK so much, they kinda rendered the older 3D Zelda obsolete for me...including OoT. Also if a remake does exist, I would want it to be like FF7 and RE where it's not a 1:1 remake and it feels new to play. Different dungeons, different layouts, new locations etc.

OoT with a fresh coat of paint only would do nothing for me :(

Agreed. Would also be nice to see third party exclusives on 3DS get ported to switch 2 as well. Too many good games are stuck on 3DS

My prediction.

-Elden Ring launch date announcement
-Duskbloods gameplay and date announcement
-Fire Emblem gameplay and launch date
-Luigis Mansion 3 Switch 2 edition announcement probably shadow drop.
-Luigis Mansion 4 announcement for 2027
-Ocarina of Time remake announcement, gameplay and launch date 2026
-Lots of third party announcements including Kingdom Heart collection and Monster Hunter and Forza Horizon 6, DOOM, Devil May Cry, Call Of Duty… etc.
-Mario Kart World Expansion
-StarFox extended trailer, brand new missions revealed
-New 3D Mario teaser 2027 💪
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 version
-New Monolith Game.
-A New Wave race or Fzero or Kid Icarus Game.
-Astral Chain Switch 2 version follow by a new game announcement.
-Orbitals new gameplay and Launch Date.
-Eternal Darkness 2 teaser. No date.
-A new Smash game announcement, just the title to melt the internet.

Man, if even half if that actually happens...

We're definitely getting the launch date for Elden Ring though. They've been promoting that game in ads left n right with just a "2026" release date for a while now. I'm guessing a June or (at the latest) July launch.

It's coming! Believe it!

These list leaks are always fake. They're extremely easy for anyone with photoshop to create and aren't something corporations would actually distribute. Giving your employees a document like this pretty much screams, "Please leak this."

My favorite detail on this one is that it includes an itemized list of the games that are going to be shown, but yet has a nebulous "Q3 2026" for that date, which isn't even the right quarter!

Interesting, even with a more colorful appearance he's still nightmare fuel.
Yep won't deny that. Dude's face sure is something else.

Either a new Golden Sun or Shining game would be the tits.

I feel like the game would have to be expanded. It's really dated size and scope wise. LttP holds up perfectly today, but imo OoT just doesn't nearly as well. Too limited by fledgling 3D technology.
