Considering most humans are not Africans, that single group made out quite well genetically and got the entire rest of the planet to themselves. Must have been tough to leave home, but the payoff for leaving food pressures was more than worth it.

Kinda crazy how, at one given point in time, European powers got strong enough to divide entire continents, by force or not (though from what I know, mostly by force only).

Even smaller countries like Portugal were going at it (and actually kinda maintained said colonies for a while longer due to being in fascist dictatorship until the 1974).

Back on topic: Pretty cool that science is getting to the point were it can slowly, but surely, start to point out our own existance (at least as Homo Sapiens) and where we exactly came from (and all the changes that implies). This stuff should honestly be taught to all kids everywhere. Would go a long way in making sure skin colours are completely superficial, nothing more.

Intriguing! So it seems to fit in with what I read in this book too.

The title of that book is somewhat sensational, but yes, the Late Bronze Age Collapse was a real thing. And it wasn't even the first time that civilization collapsed - nobody remembers the turmoil that happened from the 4.2 kiloyear event which brought down the Egyptian Old Kingdom and the Akkadians.

The Bronze Age is pretty fascinating.

Unrelated to that, but related to the topic, it's fun to remember that the original European homogeneous sapiens weren't white, as whiteness as we know it probably didn't evolve until about 5000 BC just before the dawn of the historical era, though certainly there were populations with lighter skin tones more like in the Middle East. Modern white people are a mix of European hunter gatherers, neolithic farmers from the Levant, and the Yamnaya/"Aryans", all of whom were darker than modern Europeans. So white supremacists are nowhere near as pure as they would like to believe and are themselves the product of intermixing.
