Abriss coming to PS5 & Xbox Series in March (Physics-Heavy Building/Destruction Sim, currently on PC)

$19.99 USD on March 7th, from publisher Astragon Entertainment and developer Randwerk.

Currently on PC (same price, came out last Sept.)

ABRISS is an atmospheric physics-destruction building game. Build structures from parts to let them crash into your targets. Unlock new parts, destroy more, witness entropy at its worst in digital-brutalist cityscapes.

BUILD

Abriss__GIF02.gif

Choose from parts with different weights, forms and functions to build a structure.
* Thruster + Connector + Bomb? You just built a rocket.
* Thruster + Rotator + Laser? You just built a rotating laser rocket.
* Pillar + Connector + Ultra Heavy Cube? That's a giant hammer.

Be creative and resourceful with the parts you get, try to destroy the target with less parts or in a more elegant way – it's going to be a spectacle any way you do it.

DESTROY
Try to hit the main targets to win a level in campaign mode. Destroy an armored wall first so you can then shoot through the hole into the vulnerable center. Try to hit a bomb in the environment. Use environment mechanics like the giant Pistons to catapult Ultra Heavy Cubes into a target. Or just throw everything you have at your targets – that might just work too.

  • COMPLEX DESTRUCTION SYSTEM

Simulated statics, thousands of little particles of debris, whole chunks of targets flying into the abyss – with little to no framerate spikes.

  • CAMPAIGN

Seven worlds with several stages including bonus levels each, every stage a hand-crafted destructible cityscape. You will start each stage with a limited set of parts and you will need to find a strategy on how to use them to destroy all main target blocks. You will unlock new parts the further you progress, and every world comes with it's own special environmental mechanic. You can always return to a stage to try to destroy a higher percentage of it, or do it in less moves.

  • SANDBOX

Try out new patterns of building stuff. Play around with parts you haven't unlocked yet. Try to fry your GPU with 1000 Lasers at once.

  • ENDLESS MODE

Play the new Endless game mode and try to reach the ultimate highscore.

  • PHOTO MODE

Take a free camera flying to get the best composition. Freeze or slow down time to get the perfect shot of the destruction you just caused. Apply filters to change the vibe of your photography. Share them with us!

I fucking love this, time for bed, but I'll get this tomorrow.

I wonder how it will run on a GTX 1080, or is the CPU more the bottleneck probably, considering its all physicsy, I have 3770K... stop laughing!

For those who like this, you may want to check out Instruments of Destruction.

This sadly isn't on consoles (yet... it's on Early Access right now and hopes to clear full release in April/May with a campaign and other features, with console versions vaguely penciled in for this year or thereafter,) but it's an exciting destruction project from a guy who knows destruction games. (Creator Luke Schneider was Lead Technical Designer on Red Faction Guerrilla.) Also, it's Steam Deck Playable (but doesn't have a demo; Abriss does have a demo, if you're looking for where to start.) I'm particularly excited for what he does with the campaign when that goes in, as his gameplay tenets for designing missions sounds rather Blast Corps 'ish as opposed to some of these games that focus on the sandbox. (Abriss has a campaign too, seems like it's a lot of target practice or speed runs and is more of a training ground, which can work. Neither game is character-based or has a story AFAIK, they mostly want you to build and break stuff.)

Now the game is out. Anyone bought it?

Some information about performance?
I like those games, but before I pay, I wanna know what I get.

I see the level map ane it reminds me on bridge builder, which I liked very much.

I don't wanna look the videos, because they tease the solutions.

Abrisssssss

OK....nobody has the cojones...so I bought it this evening.

I feel lucky that this game is not easy. It is challenging to solves the levels. Not an easy rush through.

First I played it with my Xbox controller and it doesn't feel good. Then I connect my 2.4ghz mouse with my series x an it's perfect.

You can play it with one hand and it feels good!

Indeed it feels like bridge builder. And that is awesome! Performance and sound design is great!

I can highly recommend this. 20 bucks an you'll get a long time enjoying game. As far as I can see there are many levels. Sandbox mode, endless play mode etc.

I enjoyed the destruction in Teardown, but I'm not sure if I'll like a game more focused on solving physics puzzles. Gonna add it to my wishlist and wait for a sale. 20 bucks isn't a lot, but I wouldn't want to spend it on something I potentially may not enjoy.

It literrally means demolition, so a perfect title for such a game.
Demolierung would be the even more literal word, but I think we usually use Abriss or Abbruch rather than Demolierung.
No, it’s the name for the Jewish circumcision ceremony.
