Fastball Reaction Time imitates a 90-mph fastball thrown by a major league pitcher. While this exhibit doesn't test if you could actually hit a fastball, it does test whether you could react in time to hit one. When you see the "swing batter" screen, a signal in your eye sends a message to a part of your brain that controls your muscles. Your brain must then send a signal to your muscles, telling them to click. Although it takes some time for the signal to travel along each nerve, the major delay in your reaction time occurs at the junction points in between the different nerves involved, and between the nerves and the muscles at your fingers.

Hah! If I think someone will try to cut me off I'll actually put my left foot over the break and position my right foot over the gas. That way there's less of a delay. Works every time (turbo engine helps too). You wouldn't believe how pissed off people get. I used to let people pass me but now it seems like every time someone pulls in front of me (like they are in such a big hurry) they just end up going slower than I am!

It's not that hard to time a fastball from someone who throws ninety. It's just that all they need is a changeup and you're hopelessly lost.

(I've never gotten a hit off of someone who broke 90 with a fastball)

Well I've hit against 2 that threw smoke like that. One had a real hard curve that wasnt much slower then his fastball. I battled against him. The other guy had a slow looping curve and he just made me look silly. Crazy thing is both guys were on the same team. Its no wonder they won the state title.
