Nintendo konnte insgesamt 14,5 Mio. Gamecube bis zum 31.03.04 weltweit absetzen. Sony hat bis zum 31.03.04 hingegen 70 Mio. PS2 weltweit verkaufen können.

Nintendo dismisses claims by saying 'no' to online play for GameCube tennis sim

16:13 So, after our recent speculation and excited murmuring, Nintendo has dashed any chance of Mario Tennis on GameCube featuring online or LAN multiplayer options.

According to reports, the publishing giant has officially stated that Mario Tennis will definitely not be online, putting an end to the bluster of recent stories speculating that it would be.

Of course, the rumours were mostly sparked when a broadband adapter was listed as one of the game's accessories on Nintendo's official website. Although such compatibility remains listed on the 'press site', the consumer game page mentions just a plain, old memory card.

Oh well. As The Stones famously sung 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'. You'll just have to make do with four-player split-screen instead.

This is an extremely liberal interpretation of the "Xbox in Japan report" article over on another thread.

Well, I did some research :) and "according to reports" seems to point at Spong.com, which has a proven record of unreliability. But that doesn't mean that this news is fake though.

I hate that this "Square Enix on Xbox 2???!!!!!11" thing keeps popping up because they said they were considering it. Of course any software house would consider publishing a game on a new platform! I'm sure at one time or another, virtually every developer on the planet considered developing for Xbox and GC, but at the end of the day most of their projects ended up on the PS2.

This is a classic case of a meaningless PR statement taken way too far.
