Everything about you is just memory. A bunch of neurons connected in certain configurations, some tighter than others.

Humans evolved to have larger memory capacity and complexity than other animals because we started using inventiveness and resources from the environment as tools to survive instead of our own strength and physical abilities. This proved more effective than raw physical abilities as it allowed us to overpower much larger and stronger animals that would otherwise easily destroy us. So we were using our brains more and more and as a result it's effectiveness and memory capacity increased further as we continued to evolve and beat every other species around us.

Eventually, larger and more complex memory processing allowed us to remember a lot of stuff together at the same time while combining it with current information and fresh memories. These processes caused us to have thoughts, questions, logic, more inventiveness and self awareness. It also caused us to realize we are mortal beings and won't exist forever. This combined with out survival instincts caused paranoia so we had to invent some ideas to defend ourselves. Like the idea of the soul. Eventually, all this caused the creation of religions and the pursuit of things that don't exist but would be awesome if they did like magic and the supernatural.

There is no "soul", no extra dimensional entity that watches over us. We are just our bodies, more specifically the connections in the memory clusters of our brain. Lose that and "you" won't exist anymore.

Sorry.

Things get more interesting when you look at time.

Our minds are completely dependent on it, and what happens when time stops for you? You're not able to experience it in a literal sense.

I still like the guy who said, better have happy thoughts when you croak, because, those moments in death might literally last forever for your brain.

What always gets me is that everything is made of particles and waves in stable configurations.

Order somehow emerges from chaos like it is some kind of program.

Yes. This happens with alzheimers. Parents start forgetting they have children.
When you get older you learn how your brain is kind of full of it and you can see through it's tricks.
