Is the switch lite worth it?

Gay porn is where it's at.
I have a PS5 (costed an arm and a leg tho) and i dont want to miss out on nintendo stuff this gen, i know about the pro rumors but that thing is gonna be costly and hard to find too whenever it comes out
So i ask, is the lite a good buy at this point?

In my opinion nope, regular Switch gives you nice option of playing both on TV and portable and there are games like Astral Chain and Monster Hunter Rise that are best played on Pro controller.

Well, you can wait until the end of August: if no announcement is made, the Switch Pro will probably be delayed for 2022.

This would be my recommendation to someone thinking about buying any variety of Switch right now.

That said, if you're price sensitive, don't mind playing exclusively on a handheld, and just want a way to play Nintendo's first party titles and/or some indies, then, sure, go for it. I guess there's a chance it might see a small price cut when/if the "Pro" launches, but that seems unlikely given how Nintendo has handled Switch pricing.

Yes and no.
Og Switch is the superior version.
But Switch is undoubtedly far more impressive in handheld mode compared to playing on a TV.

I recently started using my Switch lite instead my regular one. I think the Switch is an amazing portable console. As a hybrid, I think it's just okay. Once I rewired my mind to think of it as solely a portable system, I've been enjoying it a lot more! I'm sort of spoiled in that if I'm gonna play a game on the big screen I want a full console experience.

Switch Lite can be decent if :
- you improve ergonomics with an appropriate accessory like the OIVO grip
- you carefully pick the games you play to avoid the ones that :
1) run like shit
2) run with ridiculously small huds designed for TV play that were shrink to 720p, and become unreadable

I would avoid TV play, especially if you are used to having good pictures and framerates with PS4/5/Xbox.

Stick drift..... I have had to repair almost every joycon i own at one point. I wouldn't want them integrated into my handheld.

I don't believe you can use the switch lite on the television.

Only if you're willing to replace out the stick that will die on you. AND it will die.

As for the design they feel amazing to play with and real nice fit in the hands.

Thats BS, I have both PS5 and Switch and I have no problem playing Switch games on my TV.
That's your opinion, take note that I am not calling it bullshit. And I have mine. Switch feels like a better experience in portable mode, with a curated list of games. That's my experience with this console.

If you want the Switch as your primary console, no.
This is the perfect advice. I have a standard Switch and a Lite; The standard unit stays home (since it requires a constant internet connection) while the Lite goes to work with me.

I actually prefer the Lite as a handheld over the standard unit as it feels more sturdy and is more portable in my opinion.

If only the Switch Lite could be docked, it would be the perfect system since I rarely disconnect the Joycons. I love the form factor of the Lite, but love the flexibility of playing the games on the biggest screen in the house.

With action games like Astral Chain, Bayonetta and Monsters Hunter, Pro controller feels 100 x better.

I don’t think the image is as bad as others are saying, but it may depend on the individual games. Animal Crossing, Layton, Mario Kart, really anything with a more illustrated art style looks pretty good (and I play my multi platform stuff on a Series X). That being said, I started up Breath of the Wild for the first time since getting a 4K Xbox, and it looks a bit rough. It’s not unplayable, but it does look a bit rougher than I originally remember it.

This is a good list of games I don't want to play on the console, because they provide an unsatisfactory experience to me. Action game at 30fps ? No thanks. Bayonetta ? There is a much better version on Xbox. Monster Hunter ? Not my type of game. Not talking about resolution either, but I am sure none of these output at 1080p.

Once used to having a great picture and 60fps on TV, you don't go back. Action games are better with a good controller, I agree. And they are much better at 1080/4K at 60fps as well, so if I want 3D action games, I don't go the Switch route. I will be playing Scarlet Nexus soon on Xbox Series, this what a game should look like on TV.

I bought it and regret it. Now waiting on a switch pro. I think losing the option to game on the TV is just too much of a loss for me, and losing the option to take off the controls to play Mario kart or smash with the kids sucks.

There is nothing wrong with the lite I just want the above features so should have bought the regular switch.

Unfortunately the sticks are designed the exact same way as the regular Switch. So, if you get drift, you'll have to hope you can just blow dust and other particles away with air duster or electrical contact cleaner. Otherwise, the whole unit has to be sent in, as opposed to you just buying more joy-cons or a pro controller.

Switch Lite otherwise could be one of the best handhelds ever.

I managed to play games like Bloodborne even with frame pacing issues with zero problem, I'm not gonna miss out on fantastic games just because it runs at 30FPS.....fuck that!

Yeah, my kids have the lite. I got them on sale for 149 a piece on black Friday. I nice little machine if you don't mind hand held only.

Personally i would get a docked model over the lite. If the joycons crap out you can at least swap them, plus tv mode is too good to give up on by sticking to handheld on a lite. Playing stuff like taiko no tatsujin on a lite is a poor experience as even if you get the drum plugged in you are left trying to see on a tiny screen and speakers. A lot of games benefit been able to be played through the tv, depnds on what you really want out of a switch though as that may not be something that bothers you.

It's a solid unit , but the fact the sticks can wear out is concerning. If you can afford the extra $100 go with a regular imo. TV out and replaceable joycons make it worth the extra.

I def agree with the first two points, the performance on pretty much any console style game is horrendous, and the screen is just way too small for how huds and camera perspectives are designed. Also, no one has mentioned the shitty dpad, or at least mine is shitty, it wont register diagonals consistently.

No. Drift makes it impossible to recommend. If it had good sticks it would be the ultimate portable.

This, i Would have bought one long time as i find them used for very cheap prices everywhere. but sooner or later it will have a drift in the control and then you are fucked till you either fix it your self ( which is almost very hard ) or send it to Nintendo every now and then.

Otherwise, from a form factor and perfect Dpad (unlike the regular switch), it would have been perfect.
