i have a file sitting on my desktop entitle 'My Hero' .. no extension.. and for the love of me, i cant seem to figure out what it is.. ive tried mp3, mov, jpg, gif, mpeg, mpg, avi ..

is there a program that can identify it?

Go to explorer

tools -> folder option

under the 'view' tab, uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"
