JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli Jews overwhelmingly want President George W. Bush (news - web sites) to beat his Democrat challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) in the US presidential election on November 2, according to an opinion poll.

A total of 49 percent of people questioned said they preferred Bush, with just 18 percent wanting Kerry to win.

It's unfortunate that so many Israelis seem to have swallowed the idea that the war in Iraq was in their interests and that Kerry would ask France for permission before acting against terrorists. It's also unfortunate that so many liberals have swallowed the idea that Israel is a genocidal apartheid state.

And yeah, that title is incredibly misleading - last I've heard, something like 75 percent of American Jews are backing Kerry.

I'm not sure where you're getting all this from, but the main reason Israeli Jews want Bush to win over Kerry is because Bush is a bigger Israel supporter than Kerry is. There's not much more to it than that.
