Wow, Nintendo truly has come full circle to dominate Japan again. The high pricepoint of the PS3 is going to allow the Wii to dominate as well. Nintendo controlling the Japan industry again.

There's a good chance it wont drop sub 100k this year to be honest.

And you have to see another 2m+ being sold in Nov / Dec alone.

Especially considering that the game lineup is looking better and better. There's really no letting up with NSMB, FFIII, Zelda, YI2, Pokemon D/P, etc, etc....

Why hello there.
We won't consider WWTDS or SM64DS as million sellers until one of the tracking services says so. ;)

how many 1m+ games does the DS have now (or extremely close like Mario 64 DS)?

In Japan:

Animal Crossing
Mario Kart DS
Nintendogs
Tamagotchi Connection
Brain Age
Brain Age 2
Big Brain Academy
English Training

Wario - ~950k
Super Mario 64 DS - ~900k

Sawaru and Mario 64 were on the chart this week for Dengeki, meaning they sold around 3 - 7K this week. I can't wait to see where they're at on the monthly chart this week.

I'm looking at ioi's site and it is unbelievable how staggetring Nintendo's software sold each week, 400-800k this year..... just wow. They were moving 700-1700k each week around Early Dec to late Jan on the holidays. This Dec could be even more staggering with both Diamon/Pearl, BT3 probably in the pipeline and a plethora of DS softwares and Wii launch.

Wait, it's Golden week? Lets compare these shenanigans to last year:

Media Create 1 May - 7 May 2005

1 PS2 Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song Square Enix 66,840 314,781
2 DS Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu 3 for DS Tomy 29,534 146,687
3 PS2 KIDOU SENSHI GUNDAM: Ichinen Sensou Bandai 27,552 295,790
4 DS nintendogs: Shiba and Friends Nintendo 27,481 140,529
5 DS nintendogs: Dachs and Friends Nintendo 19,183 91,517
6 DS nintendogs: Chihuahua and Friends Nintendo 17,949 82,258
7 PS2 Baseball Live 2005 Namco 17,889 85,895
8 DS Touch! Kirby Nintendo 15,578 178,000
9 GC Fire Emblem: Souen no Kiseki Nintendo 13,471 137,765
10 GBA Rockman Zero 4 Capcom 11,344 62,000

2005 golden week was owned hard. Only one game would have made this years top 10. Tetris DS also has had very little drop off, even if there is a big drop off now it'll easily clear 500K and right now looks like it may have a shot at hitting a million. Other than that, looks like Animal Crossing will clear 3 million within 2 or 3 months and possibly 4 million somewhere down the line although right now looks like Brain Training 2 will likely outsell it. Also nice to see Mario Kart re-entering the charts and it will now outsell SSBM in the next couple of weeks. Might even have a shot at 2 million if it can have a couple of big weeks at Christmas.

Other than that, Winning Eleven 10 is doing ok and looks like it'll manage around 800K, although hopefully the World Cup gives it a boost so it gets closer to the previous games. I dunno whether it can once again become a member of the million sellers club which it has dropped out of along with Dynasty Warriors. In fact, with that price I wonder if a Winning Eleven will ever manage a million again in Japan?

The DS has single handedly revived the Japanese market. I would never have imagined it last year, even though it was doing relatively well.

I still can't get over the fact that people in previous MCS threads said that Tetris DS would sell horribly in Japan. :lol

Game sales in Japan for 2006 will be significantly higher than 2005. Probably something like 10% growth,.

I predict higher than that.

Maybe 30-40% up on last year. Seriously.

So, uh... how many people live in Japan, anyway? I mean, just due to a limited population, DS sales have to slow down eventually...

The peak for home consoles is usually around 20 million, the thing with DS though is that every member of a household can and will probably own one seperately to take with them, wereas with consoles one for each household is enough, so you have a different ceiling for sales and if DS continues this frenzy you'll be shocked at the hardware sales it can reach.

So Dengeki was off buy 115k??? Strange. Conflicting numbers aside, this pretty much confirms that DSL is still in short supply.

Sorry, ignore that then. I clicked the "Go to last post" button as soon as I saw the Media Create charts go up.

I would have done the top 50, but I'm trying to get E3 stuff sorted.

I didn't notice a mistake, however (even after double checking).

9 / GBA / MOTHER 3 (34,951)

That's why you should always copy/paste sales numbers, things get messed up.

And even i am moderately surprised
lols - X360 had dropped to 29,980 in my local store. Since wednesday, it went back up to full retail price and they stuck a load of "get yer X360s here" signs at the front of the store.

Coincidence i'm sure but still lolleriffic.
