In the next fiscal year:

SEGA

http://www.dsrevolution.com/article.php?articleid=1132

PSP: 29 games
DS: 17 games

CAPCOM

http://www.the-magicbox.com/game20060529.shtml

PSP - 21 titles
Nintendo DS - 10 titles

ATARI

http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/mag.dyn/News/10787.html

Atari's product lineup for fiscal 2007 is expected to include the following new releases:

Alone in the Dark (PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows), Arthur and the Minimoys (PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Windows), BattleZone (PSP), Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (PlayStation 2 and Wii), Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics (PSP), Earthworm Jim (PSP), Hot Pxl (PSP), Neverwinter Nights 2 (Windows), Super DBZ (PlayStation 2), and Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2, PSP), among others.

These are three major 3rd parties I could find off hand. I challenge you DS fanboys to show me some major 3rd party lineups(besides Square Enix) where DS is similarly outnumbering PSP... or even beating it at all.

This is what's really happening. It's time some of you started to wake up.

The days of street fighter, FF, and DQ that you're referring to are from well over a decade ago. The industry has changed.

"yawn" just quit your agenda and go back to play your PSP. I dislike when people call everyone a fanboy because they like a certain company or prefer a certain machine in praising threads about the machine-company, it's a very tired trend.
Tabris keeps doing it and you just joined.
Just get over it DS owns Japan and it won't change anytime soon. Play what you like and quit trying to change everyone's mind to dislike the DS and like the PSP.

okay someone mentioned this site earlier http://www.vgcharts.org/usamonthly.php?date=38838

how is that right?
In short, it's not. ioi has a ton of data that's not yet been put into his database, so it's just making the listing from what is in there.

Well yeah, but there´s always those "unconfirmed" numbers that end up being accurate, those are out already. :)
They were right for 2 or 3 weeks going, but neo seemed less certain about them this week so I've restrained myself from using them yet.

That said, I've got a few new graphs to link to, that will automatically update whenever we get the new information. I've showed my line comparison graph before, but I've updated it in a few ways. It's not limited to just two lines anymore, and can also accept % as a way to get total sales. Further I might try to find a way to make a more specific line like "Nintendo portables" or "Total sales minus DS", if I can figure a way that will be decently non-confusing to use and won't essentially be feeding it an entire SQL query for each requested line.

Total sales 2006 versus 2005 versus 2004 versus 2003 versus DS 2006. You can see that total hardware sales are quite better this year than the previous three, but that's mostly from DS Lite.

This goes with my weekly hardware redesign launch comparison. GBASP, "GBA after SP", DSL, "DS after Lite", GBM, DS, and PSP, all from their respective launches through 52 weeks.

Sony 2006 versus 2005 versus 2004 versus 2003

Microsoft 2006 versus 2005 versus 2004 versus 2003

Nintendo 2006 versus 2005 versus 2004 versus 2003

Bandai 2006 versus 2005 versus 2004 versus 2003

500k for FFIII on week 1 seems a bit high.

Agreed - If FFIII sells over 1 million (which I believe is highly probable) - it will be because of the long leg syndrome that most DS games have been afflicted with lately, and not because it sells 500k in the first week.

People will buy FFIII then will show it to their PS2 FF friends who will be compelled to buy a DSL and FFIII the next week. :)

Ds Total: ~9.036.383 (as 25 June)

In USA: ~4.588.357 (as May)

In Europe: ~4.500.000 (weeks ago and without the Lite)

I guess Ds is about to break the 20 million mark.

The DS is a monster.

I cannot wait to see how FFIII does in Japan. Is it going to be a huge huge hit? Or will it sell 400,000-500,000 and disappear? I think 1mil is a big possibility.

Regarding FFIII, two things....

1) Do we even have any idea about how many copies Square-Enix is shipping initially??? It can't sell a million of they don't ship a million.
2) This is a DS title. Predicting anything regarding this system is a total crapshoot. You never know what will happen.

ioi combines all Nintendogs, and also only goes by units.

but at the end, I won't vouch for any of his numbers... let someone else do it, he's notoriously flakey.

Edit: and melvoin HAS to be you-know-who. Just because he's so darned persistent.

Do you want to take care of him, or is it my duty now to clean up after it?

Isn't Square Enix really all that matters though? :)

this comment cannot be overstated.

Oh, quite to the contrary. It can easily be overstated. In fact, the context in which it was used in the very post you replied to is an example of how this comment can be overstated.

Final Fantasy III is as close to a sure thing as there is right now.

Anyone got a link to the post about how even the convenience stores in Japan are now taking preorders for FFIII, and the convenience stores in Japan only carry games that are absolutely guaranteed to be huge?
