Metal Gear Solid 5 Nuclear Disarmament Event Unlocked On Consoles.

It seems that – somehow – the famous Nuclear Disarmament event in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has finally been unlocked in the console versions of the game. First reports came a few days ago from players claiming they got the scene on the Xbox One version on Christmas of all days (December 25th to be precise), followed by claims of the event triggering in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions at around the same time. And today, owners of the PlayStation 4 version can enjoy the game’s intriguing secret.

The event, a cutscene taking place on Mother Base, required all players on a server to abolish their nuclear weapons, so that the total number was down to zero.

Earlier this year the event was unlocked on Steam, but according to Konami, the nuke count had not reached zero on that platform at the time. It once again seems unlikely that the event has been triggered legitimately – after all, it is a strange coincidence it got unlocked on multiple platforms at roughly the same time. Konami stopped providing updates on current nuke count months ago, so it’s not really clear what caused this sudden drop. The Japanese Metal Gear Twitter account is investigating the possibility that it was achieved illegitimately.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Maybe Konami triggered it to then shut the servers down without never showing it on every platform. I imagine they won't be supporting the online component forever.

How do players get the cut scene to trigger exactly?
Disarm all nukes. Which no platform did.
It could really be that the event was legitimately triggered. Low player counts will do that...
It was not legitimately triggered. But then again , it depends what you mean by “legitimately”. Was it triggered by Konami, unlike the cutscene being triggered months back on pc from hackers, yes. Was it triggered as intended , by have all nukes disarmed by the player base (that have continuously tried), then no.

Sorry I'm still a bit confused - I mean how do I as an individual player get to see the cut scene?

Go in -game, disarm nukes in MY game? (Didn't even know I could do that - how do I do that???). And will the cut scene just trigger now?

Because people are saying they've seen the cut scene which means either everyone must have disarmed nukes or the dev's had a date trigger built into the game as a sub clause.

Go to motherbase.

Edit: on a side note, if you’ve stolen/developed nukes you can then disarm them in the “resources” tab for heroism.
