It's Tuesday--the day when true Americans who love their country support the economy by buying newly-released mass media products.

There's only one must-buy for me this week, but that's more than okay:

I haven't seen After Hours in seven or eight years. That movie rocks.

Wow, I didn't realize that the special edition of Goodfellas came out today. Fucking finally!

Now if we could just get a new release of the uncut version of Casino with extras and commentary, and maybe a new release of Taxi Driver with commentary, I'll be happy...

Part of the problem is that Scorsese's movies are strewn across at least three different studios (Universal, Warner Bros., and Miramax are the ones I can think of offhand). Because of this, there will probably never be a comprehensive Scorsese box that rivals the Kubrick DVD box--maybe each studio will put out a separate one, or something,

I'm kinda on the fence about the Scorsese Collection. I bought Warner's excellent Cary Grant Collection as a blind purchase, and it was well worth the money. I'm hoping that the Scorsese Collection is the same, seeing as I've never seen any of the films in it, save for a few scenes from Goodfellas. Hopefully Sam's Club has a good deal on it.

All I'm going to say is, that this is an excerpt from the dialogue of After Hours.

Marcy: My husband was a movie freak. Actually, he was particularly obsessed with one movie, "The Wizard of Oz." He talked about it constantly. I thought it was cute at first. On our wedding night, I was a virgin. When we made love - you've seen the movie, haven't you?

Paul Hackett: "The Wizard of Oz"? Yeah.

Marcy: Well, whenever he - you know, when he came...

Paul Hackett: Yeah.

Marcy: ...he would scream out, "Surrender Dorothy!" That's all! Just "Surrender Dorothy!"

Paul Hackett: Wow.

Marcy: Instead of saying something normal like, "Oh, God," or something normal like that. I mean, it was pretty creepy! And I told him I thought so, but he just, he just couldn't stop, he just, he just couldn't stop, he just... couldn't stop.

I'm picking up the new special edition of Duel.

I would probably get the Scorsese set as well but my birthday is on Sunday and I'm pretty sure my grandma is going to get it for me.

Nothin' this week, next week is rough:

Clinic - Winchester Cathedral
Gibby Haynes & His Problem - Gibby Haynes & His Problem
Mike Watt - The Secondman's Middle Stand
The Worst Witch DVD (FINALLY!)

Though I've never really watched Goodfellas, so maybe I should pick that up on the cheap.

I don't care what anyboyd says... Scorsese's Cape Fear was fucking awesome. I saw the original, and that one was good too, but I just loved that movie.

Okay, this is what I got this morning:

Once Upon A Time In The West 2-disc SE
The Saint (1997)
The Maltese Falcon
Citizen Kane 2-disc SE
Treasure Of The Sierra Madre 2-disc SE
...Married With Children - The Complete Second Season
Spider-Man 2 - Music From And Inspired By

I pretty much picked all of that stuff up because it's cheap at Sam's Club. Damn them for not having the Scorsese Collection; they just had Goodfellas by itself.
