This is beyond insane and self-refuting in a thread with pages of Nvidia fans defending an overt intrusion into editorial independence. We're now being told that reviewers who run hundreds and hundreds of tests in their benchmarking and have universally panned every AMD card in the lifetime of their outlets have now magically transformed into AMD fanboys because they've given positive coverage to two out of the three newest Radeon cards.
Editorial independence. You just gurgle back what youtubers clickbaited you. They made a crusade with the words "banned" when it's not even true. Sorry, i can't hear the smallest violin in the world.
All manufacturers send free review samples and
all of them have ulterior motives of getting a fair review of their product. Anyone saying the opposite lives in fucking Lalaland. AMD pulled the same shit in the past.
Nobody cares that there's many positive coverage for AMD, the problem is the bias or straight up incorrect and made up things to their viewers.
Just fucking present the data, like GN. Did anyone have problems with GN's? He does not give a flying fuck about RT, yet he presents them and moves on. Or Linus' AMD reviews? The data spoke for themselves. AMD has a competitive product, YAY.
But no, HWUB has to :
- Made a poor man's excel list of "top 200 2020 opencritic games" trying to make an argument against RT and DLSS, while 188 has neither. Hint, not a fucking reviewer even took a glimpse at 1/10 of those 188 games, let alone include it in the benchmarking suite. This is after their own fans, patreon supporters, asked them to put more emphasis on these subjects. Way to shit in the mouths of the ones that feed you.
- Say that SAM is more exciting than RT, that "technology" from motherboards that gives the equivalent of a statistical error performance gain? yay?
- Ampere RT isn't improved compared to Turing, it's only faster because the cards are faster, which is entirely false.
- Ampere ML isn't improved compared to Turing, while not mentionning that the 3070 they were reviewing against a 2080 Ti has nearly a 3rd of the tensor cores?
- "Ampere has issues with scaling across resolutions".. Better scaling means better results in higher resolutions, not worse. It's AMD who chokes at 4k.
- Saying that the performance at lower resolutions "it's something with the ampere architecture and double FP32" is again just downright misinformation and i would hope peoples expect better from "tech" youtubers. It's a combination of the benchmarking suite which is almost 1/2 heavily optimized towards AMD and also that it's exactly because of the raw memory bandwidth that it "scales" better and gives better results in higher resolutions, refuting their previous point.
- Keep Watchdog legions benchmarks showing favorable outcomes on AMD when everyone and their mother knew in the same day of the card's launch that the RT effects were broken in that game. At least inform the viewers, like many Youtubers did. And this actually was not even kept to day 1, even up to 3060 TI's review they kept this borked AMD RT performances.
Now if you want to take a dig at the generational difference between Ampere and Turing, go for it. At least back those claims with hard data by looking at a decent suit of RT games, including full path tracing games maybe?
If motherfucking Jeremy Clarkson keeps shitting on hybrid cars, and they only look at the gas engine performances,
or even try to make claims which are misrepresentations, would anyone be surprised if it blows in their face when manufactures stop sending electric/hybrid cars to Top gear? No. And that's
pretty much what happened.
We always hear "I wish AMD could force Nvidia to compete," but no one gave them credit for the reduced launch prices of Maxwell. The Nvidia warriors only fought that much harder to shit all over the 200 and 300 series cards for frame pacing, power efficiency, and overclocking headroom, three categories that have mysteriously disappeared from all discourse now that Big Navi has retaken the lead in them. As a result, we have people who have been hanging on to the same graphics cards for 4, 5, or even 6 years because Nvidia could get away with the poor value of Turing. We finally have Radeon alternatives that compete at the high end and even beat their Nvidia counterparts in many titles, sometimes disproportionately, and we are again seeing the same tsunami of shitposting that's so far out of sync with the overwhelming vast majority of positive coverage these products have received.
Beyond the toxic discussions, it does real damage to the market when one manufacturer has legions of soldiers derailing threads of products they have no intention of ever buying to do everything they possibly can to steer people away from purchasing them and crafting unfounded conspiracy theories against any reviewer who recommends them.
Pretending that AMD's fanbase is somehow bigger or worse just takes this to a whole different level we don't see anything close to on consoles or any other part of tech for that matter.
Oh the poor martyrs. Nobody even gave them a chance.. Oh but we did, didn't we? Otherwise ATI/AMD would be been the way of the Dodo. ATI/AMD made many good cards, sometimes that were genuinely super well placed in performance/price. I've owned ATI/AMD for 22 years, even when sometimes it did not make any fucking sense, because i was waiting on this or that promise of a driver paradigm shift at AMD that would unlock the secret sauce. But they had genuine good generations and even if you go back in time for the reviews or hell, even this forum's archives, you would see a ton of support for HD 4000 series & Rx 200 series Hell, my R9 280 is still playing modern games today and i got it dirt cheap.
Underdog stories sell. Youtubers know this damn well. Look at Ryzen. Even as a Zen 1 owner, it did not make that much fucking sense to buy outside of a good price (1600 specifically). But oh boy, if you tell me that much of Zen's success is not based on clickbaits of finally having the option to kick Intel in the balls,
a good Disney underdog story, i don't know what to tell you.
You sure about that? As far as I know he didn't do that.
Of course it aged like milk. "It's not gonna be a paper launch, there's gonna be availability", but
because Nvidia, it's somehow their fault because they did not ship enough Ampere and put all the pressure on AMD? Of course, these same youtubers were speculating that AMD would inundate the market with GPUs because of TSMC miracle yields..
Cmon MLID. It's not AMD's fuckup, it's Nvidia's fuckup who created this situation
"Not to buy them"? I don't believe Jay said that either.
"Shady, unethical, liars, down right cheats. And this is the company culture from CEO down." Then Jay turns back to viewers and say buy them? please.
