I've been playing the Meteos E3 demo all day, both single and multi-player with my brother, and just let me say Matlock, that once this game hits, you will want to pick up a DS.

Yes. Meteos is super-awesome. Quite long as well, tons of unlockables, tons of modes. And the Time Attack modes are incredible fun!

yeah seriously, as DS exists now it's not worth getting. It's easily Nintendo's worst portable system to date both in terms of exterior design and the games currently available for it. Sure there's one or two great games already available for it, but so what?

Wait for DSSP (it's inevitable) and better games (they'll come... this is nintendo we're talking about).

I'm gonna get for my gf soon (when they release):

DS
Mario 64
Metos
Nintendogs
Kirby

in the future:

Castlevania
Sonic

not to mention a few used GBA classics that I'll play on the system :)

Well, it's got Pictochat.

Say you want to talk with someone who's a few meters from you, but without actually talking. Yeah, instead you fire up your DS, pull out your stylus and you're ready to go!
Pictochat is a program that allows you to enter a virtual chat-room (yeah, it's like a PC) with other people. It's easy to understand and super fun! Not only that, you can also draw pictures with the stylus and touchscreen - like, an elephant, or a vagina!
Needless to say, you need a DS!

Matlock, just hold out a bit --- if there was something for the DS you truely wanted now, you'd have the little bastard.
If you want more traditional games, you may be out of luck on the DS - things will just get stranger and stranger.

-Mario64 controls fine, no issues at all - you just need to be willing to learn another form of control (outside of the last 8 years spent with analog) ... once you do that the game is great.
-Kirby is one of the best platformers to come out in a while - all stylus, so there's lots of hope for games that ONLY use the stylus very effectively.
-Electroplankton never leaves my side - but it requres someone to actually be a creative person to really get anything out of it (same for AC when it comes...)

Not to go on a rant on un-released games... but Advance Wars was the best thing portables have ever been graced with ---- and now it plays how it should, with more tactile control (was much more intuitive, and quicker at E3) ....
MarioKart ran great - old-school, yet at the sametime visually between MK64 and MKDD -- Much more towards DD visually.

I wish I could agree, but I can't. 80 stars in and I found the controls just as difficult as when I started.

I don't know about your co-worker or how early he got his, but they stopped bundling Metroid Hunters demo with DS a while ago I believe.

I already got 3 DS games (FtM, Kirby, Dash) but am standing by my guns on waiting for $99 & Pink. I find both Platinum and Electric Blue pretty darn ugly and the pricetag just plain wrong and yes thats even with M64 included cause I never liked that game. So how about ya guys try an sell me on one?

People were playing Zoo Keeper like mad at the creperie place I was at tonight. Now I want to try it. There is something alluring about geometric giraffes.

Is the default name for high scores in Mr. Driller supposed to be 'JEGS'? I bought it used, so I don't know. I can't find anywhere to change it.

hey strange, what do you think of pac pix?

It's crap isn't it.

strangley enough i actually like it quite a bit. i am up to level 5 so far.

i do think they could have really pushed it further and included more to it (maybe some mazes of some type) but for the most part i like it way more then feel the magic. i can see myself trading that one back in for something else pretty quick.

then again , i am looking for games like fancy crazy versions of snake, chess and mind games that make use of the touch screen. feel the magic although uses the hell out of the touch screen every damn mini game feels the same so far for the most part.

i messed around with some puzzle game at gamestop where you change white to black and black to white squares, not sure how deep that game is but if it is a cross between othello and tetris i might swap feel the magic out for that instead.

Kirby so far seems pretty good but i did get bored after the 3rd level so switched out.

Mario 64 has some great mini games but controlling in the main game feels rather clunky compared to what i remember on the 64. can not figure out what is best screen or thumbpad.

for some strange reason i keep going back to pac pix. it feels almost like a puzzle game to me.

what other puzzle games are out and is the one i described above any good ?

i gotta admit those types of games are perfect for what i want for "on the go gaming"

There is a wifi distribution driver out, but it's only for a specific chipset. Mostly found in PC-card adapters IIRC.

I'm vaguely interested in a Nintendo DS, much because of the GET MARIO 64 DS FREE promotion goin' on. But hey, sell me on the DS.

I'm also vaguely interested in a Nintendo DS (I've been eyeing the upcoming Another Code and wondering if it's worth buying a DS for) but we don't have the free Mario deal over here in Europe... are there any other DS games that are available or coming out soon in Europe that would be worth picking up a DS for?

Strange, Burgers post about pac pix was actually me, I forgot to clear his login before posting, anyway, Polarium is the black and white squares game, if you didn't think pac pix was slim on content then polarium could be for you. the puzzles are awesome and there is a puzzle thread on this board somewhere with codes to enter in custom puzzles, I liked it. Apparently you should be able to get it cheaply (assuming you are in the states) I paid slightly less in NZ and I think it's got comparable content to yoshis touch and go and pac pix (easily on pac pix) I can't decide which I would prefer out of touch and go and polarium, but polarium skimps big time on the presentation. Challenge mode is very hard in polarium as well.

I heard wario ware was far and away the better mini game game out of it and feel the magic, wario is great, although I got bored of doing the "get the red flower" games, it seemed like with the touch screen games, when you knew what to do, it was too easy. I ended up stopping after getting about 1/3 of them, and when I was doing that I was getting the minimum score and dying on purpose.

Mario 64 gets bagged a bit for having bad control, (and it is no where near as good as an analogue stick) but once you forget about the thumbpad control for this game (it makes you feel like you are always pushing your thumb off the screen and can't run fast enough) and use the d-pad with the run button, you should start kicking ass. I got 80 stars no problem and beat bowser (which was admittedly much more difficult) I'll probably go back for extra stars, but I've got so many newer games to play through. will save this one for travel.

Danj, you should jump on the importing bandwagon, maybe get your DS locally and import kirby from videogamesplus.ca, they regularly send games to NZ for me without hassle and cheaper than I can get them here as well. Cheaper + months and months earlier = win.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking in that direction after someone suggested Meteos and I found out it wasn't coming out here till September :lol

Slim on content, yeah i could agree with that.
i do think pac pix really touches on the start of something great. i wish pacman did not only make 90 degree turns but foolowed my paths sorta like kirby does.
Polarium sounds like a great on the go game for me and a different experiance which is why i chose the DS instead of the PSP. i needed something different.
I am out in Texas so yep, i am in the states. :)

Sounds like i will try and ditch the thumbstrap and try using the run button and pad for awhile and see if that makes things feel smoother.
i think if they would have made the center of the touch pad a set point then the screen would have woprked better for controlling without that being on the edge having to pick up and reset your finger feeling.

how many mini games total are there to unlock by the way and how many stars to unlock them all?

Luckily the used feel the magic i got was beaten so all the mini games are open so i can screw around with them for a day or two and bring it back for polarium.

on that note does anyone know if gamestop will trade a used for instead of a swap for another used but let ya pay the extra 5 bucks for the new ? (with the card )

just beat feel the magic

After playing it throughi gotta say i am bummed on that whole experiance.
everything felt like a cheap parlor trick to get me to use the stylus and mic and very repeptitive.

it's going back soon as i get rid of this flu and can drive my ass back to gamestop.
