Today Nov 24th is the 30th anniversary of the [mostly] simultaneous worldwide release of Sonic 2.

This did not happen in a vacuum, it was a time when the world was metaphorically shrinking and the old ways of distributing product wouldn't cut it. News traveled faster with magazines and satellite television, there was a value in reaching costumers faster and unifying brands.
