Well, gofundme is exactly "asking for money for nothing". Patreon is more of a grey area - but isn't "asking for money to support" really just begging with a figleaf anyway?
Personally, it has little impact on me - I find 99.99% of the shit on YouTube unwatchable garbage anyway and my level of interest in watching other people play games is pretty much identically zero. I just find the idea of these "net.celebrities" begging for money from people that are likely poorer than them intensely distasteful.

And yes it confuses me too; I have never watched any of these streamers. And I don’t watch YouTube “personalities.”
There are some decent “shows” out there that are more specifically topical, do documentaries, or otherwise informational that are pretty good, but I’ve never paid for any of them.
And no I think there is a big distinction; patreon helps free people from relying on advertising, and avoids hiding content behind subscriptions. It’s been effective, and allows those who don’t want to pay to still watch much of the content out there and maybe miss out on some early access or something.

Well the thing is, Twitch is supposed to be a platform to watch video game streams, not a gateway drug for Onlyfans. Women are preying on weak-willed men that normally wouldn't venture to those types of sites. Normally I don't give a shit since they're the ones being idiots with their money/time, but this is akin to going to a restaurant for some food and someone slipping cocaine in your meal.

The internet removed the middle man, but it's also provided direct access from the consumer to these women - and it turns out, it's a lot more profitable for these women because some individuals are happy to pay a lot more than Hustler or Playboy would ever dream up ponying up. You might look down on the whole thing, but peddling this kind of stuff has been around long before the internet was a thing. Its like driving around the city and seeing ZERO kids playing street hockey when as a kid every one did. Whether it's on someones driveway, street or the nearby school. Your parents spend $15 to get you a wooden stick and everyone after school or on a weekend plays. Especially during the summer. And somehow we figured it out by simply calling each other or just knocking on someones door to urged them to come out and join.
You never even needed to worry about gear much because everyone had a stick and there were always enough guys in school who had a net and goalie pads. And the guys who had this gear had a noble kind of mentality knowing they were important to come out, so they did. Or they just said to the rest of us, you can borrow it but bring it back.
Video games and watching TV were fun too. But the best times were street hockey. I still remember times as 7 years old and at that time youre too young to organize your own games, so you watch your older brothers and older kids play. But then every once in a while the gang gets us young kids to join in for kicks, they split teams and at that moment of time you really feel you're playing as a team not knowing any better, when in reality they are just feeding you the tennis ball and not trying.
At least its good weather now. Kids at least still ride bikes. Saw it today quite a bit when I was out dong errands in late afternoon.
