Warframe: Tau | Official Trailer

IbizaPocholo

NeoGAFs Kent Brockman

Prepare to step beyond the Origin System and enter Tau in 2026.

Once a paradise built by the Sentients, Tau has been lost to war and ruin. Nowhere is this felt more keenly than on the black rain-soaked streets of Fornax, a colossal Sentient ring city. Here, the devastating downpour and its maddening influence run in rivulets from the heights of the Hunra's gambling dens, through the Docks, and into the most desperate Slums — where the residents have turned to the mind-altering Bloom in search of escape.

There, Albrecht Entrati awaits the arrival of the Tenno after conscripting the inner monologuing and noir-inspired Warframe, Brysko, to infiltrate the Hunra's criminal underworld — a final gamble to avert Fornax falling to those with nothing to lose.

Get ready to risk it all. Warframe: Tau arrives later this year.

Yeah, they showed off quite a bit of interesting stuff for both Warframe and the upcoming Soulframe. Too bad they're such a timesinks, maybe I can commit to these kinds of games when I retire. 😅

Warframe is utter garbage. It's a complete clusterfuck of ideas mashed together into one convoluted mess.

The art style is horrendous, the UI is dreadful, and the gameplay feels like something straight out of the PS3 era.

And let's not even get started on the cringe dating sim they somehow thought was necessary to add.

I'll never understand the appeal.

My opinion. I could be in the minority.

Warframe is like no man's sky for me, every year theres some big update and it makes me go, whoa really, thats cool.

Then I play it, love the new stuff but realize the same original gameplay loop is still at the heart of all the new stuff and after like 2 days im over it.

Respect for keeping it going though, one of (at least it use to be) the least predatory free to play games

I used to enjoy Warframe. At its core there's fun, fast gameplay with interesting customisation.

But only the Tenno stuff looks good. The rest is all ugly.

And to anyone who says it's not that hard to get into/get back into, what a load of crock. There's such a mess of content, that is not true.

Also, so some reason, on most worlds I've barely encountered other players. If you're at the beginning it is particularly dead, but that's where help is needed.

Digital Extremes played their cards pretty well with Warframe
Supporting & building on the same game for 13 years without removing content, splitting the user base with a sequel or paid expansions.

I put in 4,553h before I quit. I have other games to play.

Yeah a friend of mine, who isn't a Warframe player, likes the look of Soulframe and wants to get into it.

Just had to tell him I might not even have the time because of the whole new start chart that DE is introducing. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Fair enough. I can definitely see some of your criticisms. I know I've shared some as well. But despite some of those shortcomings it does the powerfantasy unlike any other game. The fact that you can just switch classes on the fly alone makes it one of the best of its ilk for me.

I do wish they'd streamline more of its systems though. There's too many "content islands" and others features that shouldn't even be in the game. Too many niche modes, missions and mini-games that are just completely removed from the rest of the game that I could very much do without.

But then they release an Heirloom skin for Mesa and it pulls me back in for some reason.

There is a game play loop that is unavoidable but tbe story is pretty good and interesting. The soundtracks are custom and well done. The art style has been evolving a bit and I like more than the earlier work.

The real game is modding warframes, companions, and weapons and their synergies.

There is a lot of tilesets and missions but almost all have some unique thing that they are good for if you know the game well.

But the in game economy is best in the biz. Absolutely never have tk spend a penny if you dont want to. Even if you want to buy something you either find something you already own and sell it for currency or you can grind something that is in high demand and sell that.
