Well Spidey just creeped on up there, didn't he?

Of note:

Spider-Man 2
$745,563,922

Spider-Man
$821,708,551

That's the worldwide tallies of each. Nothing too bad, I guess. :D

So Spiderman 2 has just barely passed the Passion of the Christ. And while Resident Evil Apocalypse's total might not seem that big, keep in mind that the first movie opened at 17 mil and finished at 40.

Although Spidey 2 has long since passed Passion worldwide, which has made $609.5 million. But then, that cost $30 million to make versus Spidey's $200. But Spidey had all those endorsements and promotions, so something tells me it is still more profitable overall. Except for those crazy DVD sales. :D

Shit, so there probably WILL be another RE movie? C'mon, I've seen two. That should be enough.

If you paid to see both, then you have don't have to look any further than yourself for blame.

Unfortunately for anyone with taste, Paul WS Anderson (yes, I know he only wrote RE2) and Uwe Boll's careers are only looking up.

Eh, Boll's only had one film in wide release so far... if AitD and BloodRayne bomb, that could kill his career. Of course, the fact that someone as talentless as he is is able to work with such large budgets and name actors is pretty depressing.

Exactly. Sure, he's only had one wide release, but he's already got another in the can, and was given $40 million to work on a third, with talents like Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen. That's more than three times his budget for House of the Dead and twice that of Alone in the Dark. That's a definite upward trend, and all based on his one wide US release that barely passed its marketing budget, let alone the production costs. Unfortunately, given all of that, I don't see him going anywhere any time soon. Someone is going to be willing to give him money, for some crazy reason.

Funny thing about Anderson is. He get's slated. But as far as the studios are concerned, he brings in the cash.

Also, I remember you guys out there that thought Spider-Man 2 couldn't pass the Passion!

Actually, I remember for the most part, GAF going on about how Spidey 2 would be Shrek 2.

I just saw Spiderman II for the first time this weekend. I really enjoyed the flick, thought it was better than the first one - less slow patches - but the actual movie theater experience was far superior to anything being displayed on the screen. Such as:

-a constant squeaking sound from behing the screen, like a giant hamster was keeping things moving
-the entire "The Twenty" commercial before the actual feature presentation being muted (not a bad thing whatsoever, let me make that clear)
-this constant clapping sound, like two planks of wood between the spokes of God's bicycle, around the finale
-and for the finale, some guy in the front row deciding to light up a cig during the last ten minutes of the movie! I have no idea what happened at the end. Did Peter F MJ UPTA? Did she get married? Is Carlos the Dwarf* the next Green Goblin and if so, does anyone know if that's in line with the comics' mythology?

*I've been on this heavy heavy Freaks & Geeks watching kick
