I think neogaf refers to it as Stupid Lie Day
random KI humor - this exchange between the old men killed me, lmao

Both Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and Melty Blood started as April Fool's Day jokes. :3
omh is legit.
Site isn't loading for me. Looks like the Smash fans have broken SRK.
Edit: Who the fuck is Nester?
Basically a proper 2D and 3D hybrid game where both space control and time control matters a lot.
Gat dayum, OMG(or H) just ran the gauntlet against 3 of London's best SF4 players. Now he's up against Ryan Hart, aka England's Final Boss.
EDIT: Eh, I'm kind of disappointed Ryan went with Yun. He's playing to win, and I don't blame him for that. It's just that I wanted to see Oni vs Sagat.
You mean the Naruto Ninja Storm games?Have you played the Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen games?
They aren't balanced well, but they are the closest so far to an actual 2d/3d hybrid imo.
You mean the Naruto Ninja Storm games?
I have played them and while they are better than DBZ games they are still too cinematic in their game play for me to take them seriously. Great visuals and presentation though.

OK I just saw some match videos and you guys are right this really is a hybrid 2D/3D fighter. Well the jumps are still low and floaty with limited air mobility but this is definitely in line with what I had in mind. I like the faster pace as well and of course it's flashy and has air combos.No. GNT was Takara Tomy's Naruto series on GC/Wii
Yeah same, is Oni a bad match for Sagat? I guess Onis midrange game is stronger?
If you guys were hyped for OMH murdering people, imagine how I felt standing with the SFO guys right behind the setup. Dude is a beast, and he isn't even an experienced tournament player. He was told to come after getting some ranking points!
beef pls
Best DBZ game was Budokai 3....obviously.....
My nigga!
3D fighters are usually beat as fuck imo. Feel to clunky and slow. I also don't like that the opponent can move anywhere. Just feels off to me. But hey, if you like it, keep on playing! I may give tekken a shot though.

idk what you guys are talking about, movement in VF is like butter once you know how to do it.
I think I'm gonna buy a Wii U
Tekken x Street Fighter?Oh I DO NOT want this to be in any existing fighting game (2D or 3D game). This is way too radical for that, should be used for a new IP if someone has the balls for it.
For just smash though?
Fighting games outside of SF will never be mainstream. It's too complicated of a genre and SF is the only one that removes that entry barrier. Look at the other two arguably most popular games right now, CoD and LoL.
Players have this stupid honor code when it comes to fighting games. We've seen the weak asz gamefreak messages and all that stuff. No one wants to learn wavedashing in Tekken, or the in and outs of VF besides someone already into fighting games.
You don't need combos to play Street Fighter casually. It's a far simpler game to get into - the depth comes later. As someone who liked fighters before 2009 this is funny to hear. I mean, I have memories of trying to get my tekken friends to play alpha 3 with the response being, "you can't combo in this game." And it makes sense because juggles in tekken are easier to wrap your head around instead of chains, links, canceling into supers, etc.
There's nothing about current Street Fighter that's more friendly to the masses other than it being fun to watch. Since the ip is the current genre leader, people find reasons to justify how it's designed after they're in love with the game, not before.
My post was from the perspective of someone that actually wants to seek out and learn games. Why are 2D games so much more popular than 3D at tournaments?
.
If you want to reduce it to that, yeah, but it's a big composite of superior, distinct and appealing character design, international appeal, brand strength and simplicity in mechanics. When you see any mainstream depiction of a fighting game, it's a SF-esque set up.There's nothing about current Street Fighter that's more friendly to the masses other than it being fun to watch.
