LOL

No comment on the September result?

What are they supposed to say, "Yup we lost again...". They have to be optimistic and forward looking. I actually think the XBone's holiday lineup looks good, considering first and third party (I know PS4 has the same third party...).

PS4 Destiny is ahead in this particular market too, if you include everything.

Was this a 5 week month vs a 4 week month last month? If so that's ~47k sold per week in August vs ~112k sold per week in Sept for PS4.

The craziest thing to me is the doubling of Plus subscriptions. I wonder if they actually doubled overall or just month to month? Overall seems too fantastic imo. That just doesn't seem right.

Regardless congrats to Sony and Destiny.

March, June, September, and December are all 5 week months.

bish gets all the credit :)
Is there any way to know how many Destiny bundles sold? I'm curious to know if Destiny sold more on Xbox One period, or if Destiny sold a lot of bundles - which don't factor into NPD software numbers - and that is why Xbox One is listed first.

look at Sony's PR in OP.

No. WiiU did under 90k.

A little criminal at this point. Should be selling more.

Dont worry Nintendo you got a sale coming around Christmas time or sometime in 2015 promise!

I think the Wii U will get a massive, massive boost from Zelda U in 2015.

Like, 300k boost type stuff. Its going to be a huge game.

God help us when FFXV hits on the PS4. Userbase could be 30 million by then.

Wowsers I was was way off on PS4. Shouldn't have revised down at last minute from my initial 446K and even that undershoots "nearly triple" August.

Slightly undershot Wii U too, but on the money on 3DS.

Are those all the HW numbers we have so far? And is there a Destiny number?

I went with 475K but was considering 500K and it looks like even that's low if they nearly tripled lol.

So if Smash physical is 570k - that means Mordor across both Sku's sold less than 570k?

Yes, though for a new IP without a gigantic marketing budget that's pretty solid still.

It'd put it in the same ballpark as Dishonored.

A 2-3 million LTD isn't unfeasible, with some potential upside if it has good legs.

Is wager that with bundles included the PS4 version of Destiny outsold the XBone in the US without a doubt.

Man, I'm telling you folks, as a Halo fan: The word of mouth around Destiny is not positive. It sold amazingly well, but its population numbers will drop off a cliff.

The competitive suite is not sustaining players and people are already fed up with the repetitive nature of the missions and raids. Halo 4 was the fastest selling game in franchise history but the community wholesale rejected the game, and the word of mouth surrounding it was not good. This lead to declining player population to almost nothing (relative to what past Halos would pull) by the end of the year. I suspect something similar will happen with Destiny.

The one wrinkle in my comparison is the kind of hooks Destiny has, along with the upcoming DLC. If I'm wrong - which is possible - it will be because Bungie made fundamental changes to loot, and infused compelling content into a game which sorely needs it. Bungie are smart game company so they're never truly out of it. But they have some work to do.

As a Halo fan?

what?

is this a parody post?

Color me verrrrry surprised that XBO is first for Destiny, bundle or not. Considering how many more PS4s there already were in the wild, that's surprising.

The bulk of Bungie fans are on the Xbox One; There was a free game promotion, which a lot of people must have taken advantage of grabbing Destiny; The PS4 bundle sales are not counted = Not surprising at all...

It's not pre-season anymore :p

He acknowledges that his team is building its momentum against a Sony that currently is rolling forward. "They beat us in June. They beat us in May," Spencer says. "These months are small if you look at the sales. I think the whole month of June is about one week in November. They're winning, and they'll do their PR around it, and that makes sense. The battle is really September, October, November, and December."

I assume dem Destiny Xbone sales are including the "freebies" in the hardware bundles. Still impressive that it sold best there instead of the PS4. I guess Sony's marketing deal helped to increase awareness on all platform, regardless.

And it has to be said: lol@pach. I still like the guy, though. :p

That tweet was from the beginning of September.
We know! Was posted, because of this:

How many people already own a ps4? The Xbox One outsold it despite having an already smaller user base.

Think about this. The PS4 had Destiny bundles that weren't being counted, and the XB1 was literally giving games away. Yea, that's going to impact the numbers.

I'm really happy about this. Shadow of Mordor is really good and a fantastic surprise. Took some of the sting out of the Destiny disappoint for me.
