Nothing interesting at all. Takahashi is just happy that they finally got to announce the release dates for Xenoblade X and Xenoblade 3DS in Japan, and that April will be great for Xenoblade fans. Fans can play Xenoblade while outdoors during Golden Week, and they can play Xenoblade X while they're at home, etc. There shouldn't be a concern about not being able to finish Xenoblade 3DS in a month either, because Xenoblade X isn't a story sequel.

Thanks, gonna add that to the OP anyway.

Crazy that Japan got both games in the same month... hopefully, it'll help XCX sales, even if it's just +1%.

Interesting to read that he's downright denying that this is a sequel though.

I was expecting some kind of tie-in somewhere, but perhaps they're really completely unrelated.

Oh, I'm sure there's some sort of tie-in, but absolutely nothing essential at all (more like cool tidbits/references and such).

Edit: oh yeah, didn't notice the website. If we can get someone to translate the little tidbits, we could have a thread for that?

It's not surprising. It isn't a sequel. This is how Takahashi makes games. Xenosaga is not a prequel or sequel to Xenogears even though people try really hard to connect them. That's not to say that stuff which appears would not be familiar to Xenogears fans, but it's not meant to be connected, it's just him revisiting and reimagining similar ideas.

Soma Bringer and Xenoblade also explore themes and concepts which he used before in Xenogears and Xenosaga, but they don't take place in the same universe either.

Xenoblade X will definitely have stuff which was from Xenoblade - some similar looking races, possibly even characters who look the same and might share first names as a nod, but the game's story will not be consistent with Xenoblade's world and history. This gives them more freedom to tell an original story they want, without being restricted to making things "fit".

Yeah, and it's probably for the best... I mean, I have no doubt the game will be great story-wise. Takahashi knows his stuff.

Anyone know who the voice actors are for Elma and Lin? I think Tatsu's was Daisuke Sakaguchi.

Elma is Houko Kuwashima. She's the leader of the Blade PMC. Back on Earth she was a Captain in the Doll Division which trained the United Earth Government's Special Ops in operating mechs.

Lynlee Koo is Mariya Ise. She's a 13 year old genius mechanical engineer who serves as the mechanic for Blade. She's been developing the mechs known as Dolls.

Tatsu is Daisuke Sakaguchi. He's a member of the Nopon tribe which were encountered on Planet Mira.

Well...

That's from Xenoblade. In the Japanese version there was a Nopon NPC called Tatsu. He had a different name in the English version.

I believe it was Satata or something like that. The Tatsu in Xenoblade X we've seen so far has glasses too, but otherwise is different (Satata had green fur, Tatsu is brown), although they share the same names and similar design (the glasses/goggles).

II was pretty sure since the beginning that this game was completely new, but it'll definitely have callbacks and Easter eggs for the fans who've played Xenogears, Saga and Blade (Monado hairdos anyone?). It'll definitely share some themes too, but the unique story is definitely better so they're free to do new things without being limited by the old characters.

There is Monster Hunter discussion? I either already forgot or never seen it =X

*cough*

It happened again and I thought of you :)

from the "new x trailer" thread:

This looks so good.

So what is the format of the game like?

i really get a Monster Hunter vibe... and i hope its like that.

:D

oh and here's another one:

This new trailer does nothing to address the fears I have about this game. So far there has been no semblance of a story or re-occuring characters between trailers. I REALLY hope this isn't going to be mission style gameplay with custom characters, ala Monster Hunter.

Also, the fields are completely gorgeous but completely barren. Where are the enemies? Other than the giants off in the background there doesn't seem to be anything. Definitely doesn't look like a game that's supposed to come out this year, at any rate.

I really hope they hold on to this, delay as necessary, and make it something special.

I said wow
"My name's Shingo Kawabata, and I'm the producer for Xenoblade X. I apologize for the sudden introduction. Starting today, Mr. Takahashi won't be the only one using this account. Several other Monolift Soft staffers will be tweeting from time to time, and I'm first up to bat.
It's already been five years since we released Xenoblade. I know we've kept you waiting for quite some time but, to be honest, it's felt like a pretty long time for us developers, too. The localization is making great progress, and I can proudly say that this game will be well worth the wait. The release is right around the corner, so get ready!"

There you go!

Huh. I guess the NA/EU releases won't be far from the JPN one?

Running all three together:

[Kawabata] This is a sudden introduction, but nice to meet you. My name is Kawabata and I work as Xenoblade X's producer. From now on, Monolith staff other than Takahashi will be using this account to send out Tweets to you all, with me taking the lead.

Counting, it's been about 5 years since Xenoblade's release meaning you've all been waiting for a long time, but, speaking honestly, it feels like a long time even for those of us working here. On top of that, we're also well underway with localization work, too.

However, I believe we have created something that you will feel was well worth the wait, so I hope you can remain patient for the game's release a little while longer.

EDIT: Beaten, darn it.

Doesn't specify. The "release date" line sounds like it's directed solely at the JP market, so it's hard to infer any specifics regarding the overseas release.

EDIT: Ooops, looks like it's -bata, not -hata, lol.

Can someone translate the story page?

It's said something like a hero defeat alien armies in the battle, like what Dunban did at the begining of Xenoblade.

Yeah, I'd like to learn more about that :)

Thanks to you too :)

So, localization has begun?

Well, of course it has. They're planning to launch it in the West this year, it'd be quite problematic if they hadn't started already.

It's actually pretty standard stuff, localisation for games (especially for such a massive RPG with lots of text) always starts even before the JP version is completed. "When" usually depends on the project (size, amount of text, whether the WW release is simultaneous or not, need for dubbind or not, etc...). Doesn't tell us much about when the game is coming out though.

Prologue

July, 2054C.E.

Earth became entangled in a war between alien civilizations.
A war fought with weapons that far surpassed our own technology.

Without knowing why, we suddenly found the Earth overrun and the land scorched.
The joint government, having previously predicted the disastrous effect of a war in space close to our planet, set into motion their 'Earth Species Emigration Plan' and citizens from major cities across the globe were evacuated on interstellar evacuation ships.

Forced to evacuate our sacred home of 4.5 billion years.

Tragically, many of the ships where shot down while escaping Earth's gravity and few ships managed to make it away from the planet safely.

’The White Whale' was one of the ships that managed to escape.

Leaving the Earth behind, the White Whale roamed the galaxy for 2 years.

Then, despite managing to escape the Earth thanks to good fortune, the aggressor alien forces from Earth finally catch up with the ship.

In the desperate battle that follows, the action of one heroic solider successfully defeated the pursuing forces, but the White Whale sustained heavy damage to its engine.

No longer capable of flight, the ship is captured in a hitherto unknown planet's gravity, and breaks apart as it plummets towards the planet's surface.

Then, two months later...

Note: My tenses are all muddled, but I'll fix them. Give me a minute.

EDIT: Did a clean up of the language, but let me know if you notice any grammar or translation errors.

Kawabata was the director of Soma Bringer and the producer on Xenoblade, so it's not surprising to see him return in that role. It's nice to see more Monolithsoft staff tweeting though. Takahashi was mostly focused on introducing external staff previously. Hopefully we'll see Koh Kojima start tweeting too. Maybe he can introduce some of the gameplay systems and talk more about those.

Yeah, there's ton about the game we don't know about yet, especially about gameplay, but I believe we'll get most of that during the inevitable Nintendo Direct.

Thanks, StreetsAhead and Masked Man!

Even though we still don't have a date for western release, it's good to know that localization is already underway. I know that localization work for big RPGs usually starts before the Japanese version is released, but still I was a bit worried because the trailers we were shown were all in Japanese. Maybe a 2015 release is actually possible.

Seems like the hero who save the city maybe is the main character but now we have amnesia or something. Since other cities around the world escape, I wouldn't be surprise to see "new newyork" or something either

The one issue I have with the game (I like the character designs) is the date when this begins. 2054? What? I'm assuming we aren't reverse-engineering alien technology since it's so far ahead. Also if we had a plan for interstellar escape obvious we had some advance technology.

I don't get how you can have this ridiculous sci-fi game take place within the next 50 years? If you're not going to come up with a new date system at least do something in the 22nd century.

I wonder if they are setting up some type of alternate Earth where technology advanced quicker.

I really can't understand choosing such a ridiculous date. I mean even Star Trek had just the beginning of advanced space travel happening around the Millennium decades from when the show aired. I'm basing this on my memory of when Khan and his race of genetically enhanced individuals were said to leave Earth in the original series.

It might just be an alternate history. Remember that Xenoblade had
sentient AI and universe-ending experiments on an Earth not too removed from ours in time
. Perhaps the point of divergence will be a plot point?

I don't see a problem with the date especially since they've already set the precedent that earth in the Xenoblade umbrella has technology far past what we actually have.
