I realise that it wouldn't make sense within that universe for Harley to be wearing her iconic jester outfit but I feel like Margot would've suited it perfectly.

I think most people's problem isn't that the outfit is revealing - it's that it has no style or character.
It's like they just decided to dress her scantily for the sake of it and then threw in some pigtails and called her Harley.

I cannot believe that with all these characters Captain Boomerang ended up being the one who looks the most like his comic counterpart. Astonishing, really. Even on Arrow they didn't really bother and just said "fuck it! Just put him in a long dark jacket and call it a day."
Also she's closer to this in the Arkham games then the B:TAS version in look. However how she looks really isn't the most important thing I think.
So exactly what dc have been doing with harley in suicide squad comics?
Atleast her solo book has better looks for her.
I can't imagine that WB is going for anything higher than a PG-13. Probably a hard PG-13, but they're not spending this kind of money for a film with a chance of a limited audience in the US, Will Smith or not.

David Ayer is almost exclusively R so if not then an unrated cut for home video might be possible.
This x1000. No one would have given a crap about Harley on TAS if Arleen Sorkin didn't put in so much work on finding the right balance between charm, naivete, and derangement for her voice. It's been the same in every other adaptation since then.
I look at these designs and just think lame as someone who has no idea who any of these people are outside of Harley, Killer Croc and seeing the names Deadshot and Rick Flagg online sometimes.
Guys like Flagg, Slipknot and Deadshot look like characters from some direct to Walmart war movie.

Doubt it. As said most likely a hard PG-13. That's really all that's needed. You can get away with a lot there if you wanted and placed it right. Unless they're going for sex scenes and gore porn I don't think an R rating is needed or wanted.
Just something about that suit pinched his face a LITTLE too much and made it look weird under some lighting situations.
Let's be fair though, if you want a great batsuit you still have to go back to 1989
Shit out of all of them I didn't expect the one they would get "right" would be Killer Croc lol that's pretty much what he looks like in Origins. Harley looks shitty but she has for a while so points to them for keeping with tradition I suppose.

DC has done everything in their power since the new 52 started to bury the classic harley look.
Pretty much. Joker wears a suit. That's easy to do. Harley wearing a very retro-style jester outfit doesn't exactly translate as well.
