Xbox One and Samsung 40in 1080p Smart HDTV for $500 (Best Buy 8/9)

It's not native though. Why do you think people are saying "phone is in 1080p" so you really think a smartphone screensize is more 1080p than a 50 inch TV? (of course this may just be me not knowing the real difference)

I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you supposed to have a 50 or more inch TV for the optimal full HD experience?

I am pretty sure by optimal full HD experience you must of been hearing about UHD, because pixel density essentially makes having a TV 50" or larger "optimal".

But yea, that's completely wrong you're not taking into account pixel density and the like.

As for this deal, that's insane. I may actually have to pick this up. I sold my Xbone a while back because I wasn't using it. But some of the upcoming first party games have sparked my interest. I don't need the TV but I have a buddy that does, and would probably purchase it off me for a steep discount.

looking for a new tv... however... should i settle for this deal... or get a better TV? i have a 40" on the fritz, but after looking at 50" im thinking i want one of those Vizio 4k TVs for 750$

I do want an XB1 though....

In what universe is a 40-inch TV a great size for a dorm room, Best Buy? I remember anything larger than 19 inches felt like a theater screen in those sardine cans.

My dorm room had like a 50 inch tv. That being said we had a pretty sweet sized dorm room.

Damn. Damn.
So I currently have a 45" 720p/1080i TV in my Bedroom. It is on the opposite side of the room from my bed, about 18 feet away. It is FAR away.
But it is 720p, and close to 5 years old now, so it is not even great 720p. The specs on it were decent for the time.

The 1080p and image are definitely going to be better than my current TV, but losing that 5 inches may be pretty big. Maybe, maybe not.
I also see the refresh rate is Motion 60 on this TV, which is not ideal.
But I also was thinking of picking up another One since there are a decent amount of games coming out soon I want to play and I could do that while my wife watches TV downstairs.
Also when I play games I set up a chair and am only about 10 feet away.

I also plan on picking up a new 4K TV for my TV room within a year or so. If I do that, my current Bravia 55" 1080p TV would be my new bedroom TV.

So is this deal worth it for the TV potentially being a replacement TV for around a year, a downgrade in size, and a not too great refresh rate.

What to do GAF. What to do.

I know this is slightly off topic but are curved TVs superior to traditional flat TVs?

I think they are but I guess it's up to the individual.

Anyway, it is a good price but it it just goes to show how cheap the newest smart tvs are becoming. I just bought a smart 60inch from BB for pretty cheap.

Personal preference for the most part. The main benefits are better viewing angles. However, it also means you are stuck with an edge lit display, which tends to not have as good of screen uniformity (Unless you're purchasing a much higher end TV). Really it's just comes down to do you think curved screens are cool or not though.

I just bought a 47 inch Sony 1080p for my living room from Best Buy for $600 literally 3 weeks ago. I already have an XB1, but this would've been a no brainer if it was going on a few weeks ago.

Defiantly gotta jump on this. Considering I still game on a 19 inch Magnavox this TV couldn't possibly be any worse.

Well, I finally got a crazy great deal on the Xbox One in Spain, Xb1+Kinect for 249,50€ (new, not second hand).

Im now playing Jet Pack from Rare Replay, it's a blast.

When the math doesn't work it's usually a good deal.

Xbox One without retailer cut is at what? $300, $275? TV must be seriously discounted on their end.

i think personally it depends on the size and distance you view it... a large 65" at 2 feet is amazing... the curve helps your peripheral vision so you can register more on screen information... for me anyways... i want one so bad!

have their been any other confirmations that this is legit...all i see is people sourcing gamespot...

I work at Best Buy. I just called into our local store, and nobody seems to know anything about this. But it's being posted everywhere, Polygon, Forbes etc. Needless to say, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. I'm at work at 7am on Sunday. So I'll know that morning if it's real or not.

Damn... I'm gonna need a TV when I move into my new apartment... and I don't have an Xbox One.

Seems like a winning combination...

I would just to be safe -or- go in today or tomorrow, buy them and then go back on Sunday and get the difference back. At least you guarantee yourself the stuff you want.

What the fudge. It honestly bugs me that we don't ever get deals like this here in the UK. I'm jealous...

Deals like this the store usually has one or two and that's about it.

No, No.

I work for Best Buy, We have omni channel sales. You can buy from us via phone, in store, or online/mobile.

If a store is out of an item that you want, ask to order it OMS, we can ship to your house or ship to store.

If I don't get it on Sunday I'm personally blaming you.

Please don't buy them all... >_>

EDIT: There is no way Amazon price matches this right?

Thing is I doubt they will let me buy it if they are available... which really sucks. I'd rather not work for the day and get the deal lol. I'm just part time during school.

I don't think Amazon price matches bundle deals.

This is absolutely ridiculous!!!

Here in Australia you wouldn't pick up the TV or XB1 by themselves for that price let alone both combined.

I would go with this deal if you want an xb1. You could probably hold out on a 4ktv for a few more years. Prices will drop and the amount of content will go up.

40 inches isn't that big, but for that price it's worth it.

Not sure about this tv, as I haven't looked into it, but samsung LED's are pretty awesome. i love mine, even though it just crapped the bed and I had to pay nearly 200 to fix it.

Shopping for TVs suck when you pay attention to the input lag, since the info is not widely available. Bought a TV years ago with HORRIBLE input lag...never again. Now I always research about it online, but it sucks when you can't find anything. That's the only thing holding me back on this deal. I have an Xbone already, but would probably try to sell it off.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
This past week I went through replacement hell with 40 inch Samsung tvs. It wasn't the same model as this tv, but it was a 2015 model. All of the tvs had vertical lines all over the damn screen. I hope you guys have better luck than me. I gave up and did a return instead of a replacement after the 4th tv had the same issue. :(

Didn't get any extra bones or 40" Samsungs yesterday at work. Would be weird to not get a fair amount to prep for a sale like this.

The information I was given by my manager in regards to this deal is that MS is fronting the money to cover the costs of the TV in terms of how this is discounted. Obviously he wasn't there for the inking of any deals between the companies, but he's had the same information regarding when Sony is promoting a special deal. And from our store profit margins, TVs are already low margin items for us, and game consoles are nil in terms of profit. We make our money on the accessories/games, etc.

So yeah. In terms of inventory? It's going to vary drastically by store. Some stores are getting very limited inventory of the tv model leading in, and will hope for a refresh mid-week. Other stores will probably have more aggressive amounts. Half the stores in my district seem to be on the limited stock, the other half on the aggressive. The aggressive stores are the ones which have so far this gen done better for XB1s than elsewhere. I assume these will sell very well. We've already had a few calls about if there is a PS4 version. (temple rub)

I'm considering biting on this deal and I have no idea where I'd even put the television. That is a crazy good deal.

The price point is so low I had to check what the actual current price of the TV is, just to reconfirm lol. On Amazon this tv is $427

Which means you get the XBO for free?

When I tell my mates to grab an Xbox, I always say they giving these things away. My first Xbox one cost me about $116 last year (after dumping, I mean selling the unity code).
