Is fantasy football gambling?
Exactly what I was thinking. If this stops their incessant advertising THANK FUCKING GOD.
Anything to get rid of those goddamn ads.

Employees can see how often players are drafted. Since everyone can select the same players when competing against each other, it benefits you to choose other players. In the case where a player a lot of people drafted does well, many entries benefit. If you know who wasn't chosen often and they have a really good game, that puts you ahead.

Is that not public information on these draft sites like it is on every other fantasy sports site?
Even if it wasn't though, presumably the more common picks are more common because they have a higher success rate, so picking the less common picks shouldn't be an advantage overall. The same way picking the longshot is not an advantage in parimutuel betting.
If pick rates are private I could see that distorting the odds though since the 'bettors' don't have perfect information, I just don't know how much of an advantage there would be there.
Essentially, yes.Is fantasy football gambling?
The picks aren't public until lineups are locked.
You can't think of this like a regular fantasy league since every team can pick the same players. Avoiding the frequently chosen gives you a better chance if the player you select has a great game.
Yeah I could see the private information part having an effect, but it's still hard to see it being a big enough advantage to make 350k in a weekend.
Overall I think these sites are shitty loophole workarounds and we should just legalize sports betting. I mean basically every state has a lottery these days, and that is way more gross and exploitative than sports betting or casino games IMO.

It is a significant advantage.
You can easily run algorithms with this additional data point and give yourself a real leg up on everyone else.
What I really hate is a player isn't injured 10 mins and ESPN or NFL Network is already talking about how big the impact the injury will be on fantasy players.
This.If this stops their incessant advertising THANK FUCKING GOD.
As opposed to seeing a Bud Light or Coors Light commercial?

One day Robert Kraft will have a stake in a non cheating organization.
But not today.

Hearing from several inside folks, this #Draftkings #Fanduel scandal is about to get a hell of a lot worse. Hunker down/cover your ass time.
Seems like there may be more to come.
The New York attorney general began an inquiry Tuesday into the prospect that employees of daily fantasy football sites have won lucrative payouts based on inside information not available to the public, asking two leading companies, DraftKings and FanDuel, for a range of internal data and details on how they prevent fraud.

I wonder if these employees are the millionaires that these companies like to trot out during their adverts.New York Attorney General Opens Inquiry Into Fantasy Sports Sites
