You try to escape... you die.

Trailer was great. Joker and Harley will definitely be the stars.

PG-13. Probably a hard PG-13, tho. And I'd call an R-rated cut basically guaranteed at some point.

But one thing, I really don't think it tells us anything about the extent of his involvement? We know there's a scene where he tortures Harleen, another where he and Harley take a dip in the acid, another with him and Harley in the Jokermobile, one more where he's torturing a Belle Reve guard, which is weird, and then there's everything with him in the tuxedo, and I've got no idea what's up with that. So there's still a fair few questions.

I'm referring to the part where
the joker laugh comes over the loud speakers when they are in the office building which looks like it is at least in the last half of the movie and the reveal that joker is behind whatever the suicide squat is dealing with, now maybe I'm wrong and it is revealed early on that they are after the joker or maybe it is just trick editing of the trailer
But the tuxedo stuff you mention also looks super interesting

I'm thinking he's more of a wrench in the works, rather than the mastermind, but it could go either way.

So how the fuck is this not a zany action-comedy?

I'm really scared because reshoots this late in the game if the movie really is as grimdark as they say..... that does not spark confidence.

Looks more like soldiers covered in black gunk. You can see they're carrying AR-15s, and decked out in what looks like military issue helmets and gear. I'm thinking they're the first group that got sent in to try and figure out whatever the hell was going on, then the Squad got called in when they were... turned, or something.

When Katana cuts half the head off of one of them it looks like rocks. You may be right but it would be kind of cool if they were fighting something inhuman.

But that kind of feels like what I'm seeing here. There's a lot of funny, but it's mostly playing on how dysfunctional these people are. A twisted sense of camaraderie, general psychosis. At the same time it's dealing with the larger implications of the US government trying to process how it deals with a world filled with metahumans.

I dunno, I'm seeing a lot of Ostrander here.

Fair enough.

Did you watch the trailer? "they" is obviously BS fear-mongering. There is no way they cut this trailer from reshoots they just started on. Jai Courtney said not to believe what you read and that they have been shooting action scenes.

that trailer was good

and I really want a cool Suicide Squad movie

but for some reason

I just don't trust the trailer. I don't know why. I just don't believe it. I don't buy that the tone they're selling is what we're going to get, based on the rest of WB's comic related output.

I wanna be wrong, because what they're showing me is basically what a Suicide Squad movie should feel like.

White women are proof of God.

Slayven this alt account is too obvious

a lot of that feels like it comes exclusively from the editing in the trailer

That describes 100% of trailers.

Action comedies are some of the easiest to edit to be funny or dramatic though.

Usually you can see the editors strain if the material is not there. I think the material is there for this movie.

And the fact that this is the approach they take to marketing suggest that this is and action-comedy thing.

I hope Rope Guy dies in the first fifteen minutes and then every problem the Squad encounters from then on out could be solved with a well-made knot.

But! Because Rope Guy imparted his rope wisdom onto the squad prior to his death, when they encounter those knot-based problems, they are able to solve them as a team, and in the end they learn the value of friendship.

Rope guy is the best.

Well, I mean, you usually want to edit a trailer in a way that is indicative of the tone of the movie, though.

I thought late reshoots were really common.

They are common enough not to be a guarantee that the movie has serious issues, but not so common that it should not worry us somewhat.

Great trailer. Still have little faith this will be good considering the last minute reshoots.

Every movie has reshoots, and these in particular were already planned before BvS or trailer 2 thanks to Croc's schedule. Also there's virtually no way that any of the re-shot material made it into this trailer considering how much time that would have taken and how little time there has been. So considering the guy who spread the reshoots rumor also said that all of the jokes were blown on the previous trailer, yet there were plenty of new jokes in this trailer, you can pretty well dismiss him as FUD.

I'm not gonna read through the previous comments on the thread because I've realized trailer threads can give me cancer. I'll just say I thought the trailer was dope as fuck and my hype and excitement could never diminish.

Yeah, not to mention that this trailer is actually missing some jokes from previous trailers.

That is a very good sign.

This looks so fucking good and honestly there's no way it could be as bad as BvS with Ayers track record alone.

Trailer is excellent. Between this and the last one it looks like it has the right dose of dark humor and fun that a certain other DC film was missing. I believe in David Ayer on this one.

You could be right, but I still don't think Suicide Squad deserves any good faith. As much as I liked End of Watch, Ayer can screw this up. And unfortunately, great trailers can be be made from bad movies.

I hope it's good, but I'll wait for the reviews before I buy a ticket.

If there's no way to know then why get all mopey about it right now? Save the misery for if it actually disappoints! :)

I like Ayer though.
