Animal Crossing Direct Nov. 2, Miitopia featured in JP stream (no mobile/Switch)

Don't worry, if you've stayed away long enough without interruption by hopping in every few weeks, nothing will have changed. Maybe one animal has left and been replaced by another and that's it.
OK, your flowers may be gone and weed everywhere if you do not have the right... um... I do not know how this is called in English.

Good news for me then, I haven't booted the game up at all this year. Maybe once? IDK.

But yeah, I also have the beautiful town ordinance. So all my flowers should be okay.

Is your save in New Leaf tied to the game card or the system? Can I buy a new game card and start a new game without losing my old one?

So, apparently you have to use AC amiibo figurines to get the Wii U/ n3DS (XL) items that are needed to unlock the new mini-games. Damn.

I'm 99% sure that the campsite item for sale is a random one of any special amiibo item, and that the Wii U and n3DS will appear there at some point.

Nah, you can buy them with fortune cookies if you don't have the figures.

EDIT from Nintendo's PR: "The Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS items can be obtained via fortune cookies at the Nooklings’ shop, but it’s much easier to obtain these items when you scan any of the 16 Animal Crossing amiibo figures."

Well it has the new campsite area, and furniture from Happy Home Designer, but hopefully it's not just for people with amiibo. That should be a thing, for sure, but not the whole thing.

On a positive note, AC amiibos are ALWAYS marked down at the stores in my area.

Holy shit Panel de Pon. New Leaf just got even better!

Damn, Boots (my fav villager from the original) is coming as a card. Time to buy fifty packs so I can get him.

This. A video on the update page says you can use meow coupons to acquire the 3DS / Wii U.

Potentially not for long now that they're actually used with a game people actually own and might want to use the amiibos with. Not my problem, I have a full set :p.

I have all but Timmy/Tommy and the non-AF Isabelle. So I'm not worried. I know they we reduced from $13 to $9 as the standard price at Best Buy. Add GCU to that and it's like $6-7 depending on tax. Still not awful.

Damn I wonder if any of my Smash Amiibo's (DK, Shulk, Falcon, Samus, Mario) will be compatible, however, I highly doubt it.

Amazing update.

Unfortunately, this update means we'll probably have to wait a long time for Animal Crossing Switch.

That's okay though; AC fans will get their fix here.

Or it is the other way round and Nintendo wants to raise awareness before the January Direct. I guess there is something on the way this time.

Neat. Do we know what it is at all yet?

We know it's a fantasy RPG with Miis and that's pretty much it.

There's some sort of demo-ish thing on the JP eShop--it's more of an in-game cinematic thing; you add your own Miis but you can't really do anything, just watch it play out and take screenshots.

A nice little update, too bad so much is locked behind Amiibos though :(
It would be great if random villagers could just stop by your town with their van and not just if you have the amiibo.
It's basically physical object dlc.

I agree, but this game is so full of content from the jump I can't even be mad.

If they want to try to add value to the existing Animal Crossing Amiibo Line after that terrible Wii U game, good on them.

:lol
This Direct was a big success

the exposé

I'm a huge AC fanboy so I want to get a taste of Switch AC, I loved all the additions included in this update.

And I'm still waiting for the amiibo compatibility list. Nintendo what the fuck are you doing? How do I get Ganondorf? The Ganondorf amiibo wasn't show in the Direct. They didn't say how I get Epona either.

I'm disgusted.

Hmm, so the Wi-Fi connection's not working at the campground. Anyone else struggling with that?

Also, how do you get Wisp to appear?

I mean, I get the appeal of high definition Pokemon and Animal Crossing on the Switch, but am I the only want that wants those franchises to be mainly on a pocket-portable device like a mobile phone? I never was interested in any of the console Animal Crossings because I couldn't reliably bring it with me to places when I wanted to do tend to the town throughout the day.

Given everyone is asking how you get Wisp to appear, I expect it's another timed thing that Animal Crossing likes to do. The game doesn't tend to throw all things at you at once, so unless someone finds him and contradicts this, I bet he'll appear tomorrow.

Did they announce the Sanrio pack for NA? My fiancé is so hyped for that pack in particular.

My girlfriend just went nuts when she saw those Sanrio content. :)

And yes, they will be launched in NA.

This new series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards will be launched on November 3rd in Japan, November 11th in Europe, and December 2nd in North America, and will feature animals that do not appear in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Wisp apparently calls out to you in town. If you have a special character in your town like Gracie or Saharah, that might block his appearance.

They announced a mobile AC game a while ago, it'll be out in the first half of next year.

Good to know! Thanks for clarifying that. :)

Thank god I bought amiibo festival for 15€. Finally a reason to open it haha.

I saw it for 6€ and deemed it not worth that much, lol...

:(

I legit had dreams about my town when I stopped playing

Aw, almost too cute! Honestly, I did not plan to return and the Direct did not interest me. Until I saw the changes. I'm eagerly awaiting my wife's reaction.

Oh my, one more cozy autumn and winter with New Leaf, who would have thought?

lol, I bought a few Animal Crossing Amiibo's a couple weeks ago because they were on sale. I don't really have a gameplay use for them so I've just been taking pictures of Isabelle saying she misses you but understands why you had to leave, or Tom Nook stabbing fools for money.

Oh man, update looks excellent.

Question: since you can scan Amiibos to have certain villagers move in to your town, can anyone confirm whether the same or a different instance of a villager you previously had would be the one moving in?

For example, I'd like to get Rory back as he was my boy and left unexpectedly. If I have his Amiibo card, would it be the same Rory moving back or a different one? Would he remember me?

So this is just Amiibo shit? What are the updates for someone who just has the game itself?

New interface features and data transfer from Happy Home Designer, new minigames, new items & access to rare items, new anti-grief online features, the ability to sell your town and start fresh with tons of bells, new in-house storage/inventory, etc. There's plenty of new stuff even without amiibo.
