Totally, but the music complements the core gameplay in addition to the aesthetic. I can't say the same for Furi.

The music is definitely tied to gameplay in Furi, it actually matches phases of the fights.

Much more than Hotline Miami, where it was more like a cool soundtrack for what you were doing. I love both HM soundtracks, btw (especially 2).

Unless Brad or Jeff throw a 'I'm quitting the site if it's no 2' fit, I can't see how the top 2 is anything but 1. Doom 2. Overwatch

or if Alex has some secret game he holds in higher regard than Overwatch.

I think looking at individual top tens and trying to divine the GOTY is a fool's errand. It all comes down to the points of discussion and the force of wills within the room when the deliberations happen. I can absolutely see a potential conversation where Hitman comes in ahead of Overwatch, and maybe even Doom.

Alex still the MVP on day 4

He is gearing up for a goddamn fight.

I believe in Overwatch and in Alex. I don't think I'd be saying that. I keep waiting for Dan to put up a fight, but Alex has pleasantly surprised me.

Alex has been awesome in these GotY discussions. Last year was my first time following GB and their GotY and I do not remember Alex being near as outspoken as he is this year. If Vinny had listed Overwatch above Doom on his GotY list I would believe in the Alex/Vinny/Dan/Jason OW fight but without Vinny I can't see it happening.

I don't get how people keep saying that Overwatch was so friendly to new players. I stopped paying within a couple hours because it made me feel like I was terrible every step of the way. I constantly died and couldn't kill anybody but the AI. I didn't get highlighted for anything and felt like I was pointless. TF2 did a lot more to make me feel like I was contributing.

if you thought a Doom game where
you fought a Cyberdemon two thirds of the way through and fought the Spider Mastermind last
ended abruptly, I don't know what to tell you

the ending was what it was, but it's not like it was RAGE

I just thought for sure I was going to fight
s.hayden after he turned on me. Instead he turned on me and then credits

I assume Skate 3 was the reason they made it so it should be open and shut. I haven't looked/watched/heard yet.

Fucking GB n00b. You probably think Hitman will get GOTY too!

I just checked the winners and boy was I wrong.

Edit:

I need to listen to how they justify
Inside's
"moment". I fucking laughed out loud at it.

Like, I can see Vinny backing Alex for Overwatch. Yeah Doom is a good game for this year, but Overwatch is going to outlive it.

thats because TF2 is a much better game. By friendly people mean it doesnt show your kda and eventually you get your ult and can get at least a few kills that way

It's friendly for a number of reason, not just hiding your stats. It-

-Shows recognition for things other than doing damage/kills. "Oh you blocked alot as reinhardt, have a medal. Oh you healed alot as mercy, have a medal." For a starting player, that's incredibly a good feeling. Like if you play call of duty for the first time, if you're not getting hair trigger kills or what not, you're not contributing.
-When you die, it gives you tips on what killed you. IE "Junkrats RIPtire can be shot before it reaches you." It gives you specific tips on what killed you, and whether it's pertinent to your character.

TF2 I'm sure is a good multiplayer game, but I don't see it giving you any tips like that. Sure you can kill AI and there are modes that let you do objectives that revolve around collecting cash from AI, but it is no where near Overwatch's level of friendliness to new players.
