They are still 40,000 subs less than they expected within the first year of launching NJPW World so far as I know. And the free show they broadcasted drew 600,000. So they need to do something to get people to sub. Bushiroad are obviously behind them but as wonderful as the product is, I feel like there needs to be more done to really push it forward. Looking at merch sales but seeing subs stagnate makes me worry.
They make there on live attendance and givin how unpopular streaming is over there it hard to know whether that number is good or bad. I mean they are number 2 or 3 most popular streaming service in Japan.

As for shitbags in NJPW there were rumors about Honma beating his partner. While she was begging for forgiveness. It was reported pretty widely but not much came of it.

Similar to the stuff with Kagetsu and Tsukushi now. Kagetsu is apparently covering for Tsukushi and not pressing charges because it would ruin her career.

I never heard how the Honma thing ended up resolving.

If I had a dime every time I thought "that felt like the blow off" only for 10 more matches to take place between the two combatants, I'd out draw Ric Flair.
Smackdown has been much better about having definitive blow off matches in the past. It's not as bad as RAW in that aspect.

This past Tuesday felt like Smackdown before it fell off a cliff. Could be totally wrong though, might just go right back to Shitsville next week.

John Cena and Goldberg seem to be great people

Agreed for the most part. I'm not going to harp on guys for playing backstage politics. Cena's probably a bit more right-leaning than I'd like, but his charity work is top notch.

Edit: My list of wrestlers who seem like decent to good people-
1. Cena
2. KO
3. Sami
4. Rock
5. Goldberg
6. DDP (for the most part, though he sticks up for some bad people)
7. Batista

It's not a coincidence that those are some of my favorite wrestlers too. I still love AJ as a wrestler and he at least seems like a nice, down to earth guy, but his bigotry is a huge mark against him.

wait is this rumor of
ko vs shane mcmahon
at summerslam legit?

If they pursue a similar thing soon post-botch, yeah I wouldn't be shocked at that match happening

The Flair Flop is literally the most comical oversell in the history of wrestling, yet Flair is pretty much unanimously considered the greatest of all time.

fucking hypocritical old fucks

I have a Ric Flair in Japan boxset and it's the exact same match 53 times.

I know and I do agree with you. But it is still 40,000 less subs than they expected and what, 12,000 subs that they have are outside of Japan. They are definitely on the up and up and that is great, but they haven't met what they expected themselves. Because of cultural and other reasons. The reason I worry is I don't know what they will do, especially since it is the best year of wrestling any company has probably ever had and subs still haven't grown.

I thought it was good. I like Yoko Bito, but Hojo and Shirai definitely stepped up in her absence. I know we have sort of spoken about it before, but I really don't know how Hojo and Shirai will go in WWE. People get upset comparing NJPW to WWE. Comparing the Joshi scene to WWE is even more difficult. I'm looking forward to seeing how the MYC turns out more than anything else in WWE at the moment. I really hope they give Evie a fair go because she is fucking awesome.

I think they both have high potential to succeed for different reasons. Hojo is just charismatic in a way that transcends the language barrier. Her and Nakamura aren't similar per se, but I think she will get over with her personality the same way he has. And her selling will help with that.

I think Shirai will get over because she just wrestles unlike any woman we've ever seen in modern WWE. She's at a level all her own. Even if she's toned down, her at three quarters or half speed is still a step above everyone else there. She's going to be unique for that reason, and unique more often than not gets over.

And I agree about Evie. I've loved her work ever since I first saw her in Shine in 2014. She's great and I hope they give her the chance to show it. There's a ton of women in this tournament I'm excited about.

Meltz getting shit for saying HBK is not a top 30 wrestler for draw, worldwide, of all time. Fans can't believe he'd say that
Lol awesome.

Yes, when you actually look at ALL workers in the history of wrestling, across the planet, it's very conceivable that Shawn would not be in the top 30. He's kind of basic compared to some other workers. And of all people that would know that, it would be Meltzer, who's seen almost all of wrestling in the past 40 years.

I love people who get salty at the world's most knowledgable wrestling historian. it's so dumb.

Meltzer isn't even basing it off opinion. He's basing it off of who the biggest draws were. Like it's a factual statement that Shawn was not one of the top 30 highest drawing wrestlers of all-time. That's what he's saying and people are still arguing with him.

KO/Shane could be fun. I don't really know who else KO could feud with. I'd rather it be Shane than Jericho or AJ at this point.

Also, it's pretty funny that out of all the GMs, that Shane is the one that's wrestling.

People forget, even beyond how difficult he was to work with and how hesitant he was to put some people over, Shawn phoned in a lot of matches (that didn't involve Bret or Austin) during his coke binge era

It's because 90% of people hear "biggest draws" and think Hogan, Flair, Bret, Shawn, Austin, Rock, Cena. They barely think outside of 80s-present WWE, let alone Japan, Mexico, Europe, Canada, stuff before the 80s like Bruno's era, etc.

It doesn't surprise me that Shawn isn't top 30. He was the face of the company when wrestling's popularity in North America was in the shitter.

Shawn is probably the best or 2nd best wreslter in WWE history.
Above him I'd put prime Bret, Austin (best brawler of all time IMO), Daniel Bryan...I could say Owen but obviously he doesn't have as many high profile matches.

EDIT: Eddie and Angle over Shawn as well.
