Prejudice around height and it's seeming acceptance among society.

One of my friends is quite tall and he has hella bad back problems. He also ducks in doorways. Not something that he values that much it seems, but other people do. Shrug.
Of course there's a limit to how tall is "good tall" before it becomes freak of nature tall. I woulndt want to be super tall either. Definitely not so tall id have to duck under the average American doorway. 6'2" to 6'5" max would be nice. I'm right at 6' or 5'11" now.

I couldn't imagine being a short person though. I wouldn't really put stock into what dating profiles say but ignoring that there is a definite real life prejudice against little dudes. Tom cruise is Tom fucking cruise and I wouldn't want to be him (body wise).

I'm short, and it's never been an issue for me. Never got comments from stangers, and nothing really hurtful at school, either. The handful of ''ha! You're short'' comments from friends I've gotten were either laughed at or responded by a similar stupid observation about them.

Don't fret short people, everyone loses about 3 inches of height a they grow older so those that are 6'2 or so will once again become manlets in the future.

Seriously. Some folks will throw a fit if you tell them they're wrong too lol. I knew someone who argued he was 6'2" despite him being a few inches shorter than me (I'd say he was an even 6'). He tried to say I was 6'4".

I've always gotten 6'2" from doctor visits and measuring myself without shoes or socks on, so I left him alone.

Yeah I feel like I'm breaking some kind of secret "bro code" by being honest about my height.

Man this thread is a straight roast at the expense of short folks, huh?

I bet this wasn't what the OP was imagining.

I don't think about being tall until I come across someone almost as tall or taller. Or if I'm next to an unusually short person. Or when I'm on airplanes or getting in a rental car.

But other than that..

I'm 6'7"

I'll be honest. I look forward to these every couple of months. Look. I know "short" dudes that are 5'3-5'10. A couple? Yeah, they're a bit insecure. Most? Air Force..nope! Marine..nope! Dopeboy..nope! K St..nope! Two types of people, no matter your height.

Those that take shit, and those that don't..

And what would you say to a short person in this thread who might ask if all the manlet talk and the "just suck it up" stuff is really necessary?

Let's be honest, the short folks who really feel down on their height have long left this thread.

It's going to continue if people don't speak up. Right now it looks like most people here aren't offended so there's not much reason to stop.

I mean, it's not that hard to imagine that it really fucking sucks in life to get dealt a shit hand like that. And how it can weigh on someone immensely.
There's people that have killed themselves over their perceived inadequacy when it comes to their height. I have personal friends that live through these jokes every day and they hate it even though they at like it doesn't hurt them.

So yeah, i'm not really keen on these jokes, for the most part.

What else will folks do? The thread exists as a way to complain about women not wanting to date them no matter how dressed up it wants to be. There's not much else people can do but say carry the burden and move on. Sure, it sucks but it's not 100% preventing you from doing anything.

Don't worry, my fellow short brethren. Tall people are closer to the sun and skin cancer and it's only gonna get worse. Things are looking up (lol) for us.

Not everyone in here is acting like a dickhole though. Just the majority.
It's kinda weird how this topic can't be taken seriously.

I mean, I started the thread but I don't get offended by it. I just find it odd that when people do, the reaction is generally to tell them to get over it or make a joke. If you did that to fat people or disabled people, the response would be totally different.

A fedora and combat boots can help add 3-4 inches of height at any time.

Which is worse. Being short or being bald? I have a few friends who would give up their height advantage over me for regaining their locks.

You guys usually have smaller feet too and can get away with buying GS size shoes for less so cry me a river.

For all you short folk with big feet... I'm sorry.

Well firstly, being disabled isn't equivalent to being short.

Being bald is definitely worse. There's nothing funnier than tall bald people thinking they can pull it off because Dwayne Johnson can. Shaving because you're balding isn't a look, it's a compromise.

Replace height with any other prejudice and the tone of conversation on GAF would be totally different.

Well ya, that's because being short isn't like being black or a woman or having a disability. Like, you aren't going to get pulled over by the cops for being short I'm pretty sure.

This is such a dumb line of thinking tbh I'm ashamed I even responded in a serious way.

But apparently you draw the short end of the stick in the dating scene, as well as in career opportunities. Plus you're the butt of the joke all the time.
There are degrees of things having an impact on your life. It doesn't have to be black or white.

See, now being disabled or over weight for a variety of reasons isn't really the same thing, and I don't quite understand why those two and racism equate to being below the national average height. I get the social underpinnings of it, but the willingness to kick rocks and treat it like it's debilitating... probably why a lot of folks are having trouble getting those dates to begin with.

bald

I am so scared to lose my hair. Fucking terrified.

Nervousness and worry contribute to hair loss, you know.

I'm tiny (5'2") so I don't seek men taller than 5'11", but it doesn't really matter if I end up having a good connection with someone.

I used to have a colleague who was 6'5" and all of my coworkers would try to set us up. He wasn't bad looking, but I couldn't do it...
