Neogaf's reactions are confusing

How should I use the Praise the Sun? Is it supposed to be used to praise a post/ user? But doesn't Fire do exactly that? "That's fire bro!"

Or is Fire like "burn"?

What about Thoughtful? I can never know if they're in doubt or giving the idea a thought.

"I like lettuce"
**Thoughtful reaction**
What does that even mean?

Then there's triggered, but it looks like shook. Why?

What time is it?
My helpful guide:

Like - Spit
Love - Swallow
Praise the Sun - Cuddle until the morning
LOL - I thought it would be bigger.
Thoughtful - I like you as a friend.
Fire - I don't like you but 'lord'a mercy'
Triggered - I'm too old to understand this one.

I like to think that praise the sun is similar to praise the gods for that comment or thank godness for that.

But I like my praise the sun meaning prasing the sun, because I don't think its wrong to praise the sun.

Thoughfull for me implies a smart or intelligent commentary. Or not.

Determining whether the reaction was used seriously or ironically is half the fun. Each reaction other than lol and like can mean opposite things.

Thoughtful - 'That is a intelligent point' or 'you think you are intelligent but you are an idiot.'
Triggered - Almost always used ironically to mean "you probably triggered an idiot" but maybe rarely used straight up.
Praise the Sun - 'Finally, someone saying what we all think' or 'you are an idiot cult member who worships dumb things'
Love - 'I love the point you just made' or 'I love how much entertainment you give me when you say dumb things'
Fire - "Preach on brother' or 'a bonfire of idiocy'

or ‘a trash fire of free thought’

Fire is easy. It's an instagram emoji that has made its way into "cool" English to describe something that's hot, or cool, or noteworthy. There are people who say "that's fire" in real life. For example, "I just listened to the latest Drake track, that was fire!" It's basically the one thing that needs to be erased from the English language. Unless there's a meaning here I'm not privy to, which is entirely possible.

Praise the Sun needs a more in depth explanation.

I think it's actually the other way around. At least the laughing reaction can be positive if something makes you laugh, or negative if you're reacting to a typical Nobody_Important Nobody_Important post.

There's no particular protocol for how to use them. Some people don't even use them at all in fact (as evinced by the Are you a Giver or a receiver Thread )

Personally I tend to go with the following: -

Like - 'I can get behind what you're saying'
Thoughtful - 'I really dig what you said, or that was a helpful post that drops some knowledge'
Triggered - 'Something I either disagree with or find amusing in some fashion'
Praise the Sun - 'Anything FROM Software related, or generally good news, especially gaming-related'
Love - 'Reserved for perfect posts, rarely used so all the sweeter when deployed, though I have used them for comedy effect at times'
Fire - "something contentious or someone putting down some smack talk'
LOL- 'Generally when I find a post just funny. Not often used ironically as I tend to go to Gifs if I'm going to mock someone'

^ That's the rough guide for how I use them, but as with anything subject to change. 🤔

I like how they can have positive or negative connotations and the person getting them may never be sure which.

Did I use the triggered reaction because I'm triggered, or because I think you're triggered? Did I use the LOL reaction because I'm laughing with you, or at you?

Thoughtful is the most versatile.

I use it when I find a comment genuinely thought-provoking or insightful.

But...I also use it sometimes when I disagree but don't want to go down the rabbit hole of pointless discourse.

And it can also be used when you think a comment is just dumb, you know, since it's a picture of a brain. :p
