God of War does not belong there.

So discounting that I'd say the Surge series. The limb targeting system is such an awesome idea and I like the body horror elements (kind of forgotten in the second game though).

Two big ones that you forgot are Salt and Sanctuary and Remnant. Both are way up there and well worth playing.

I knew this thread smells fishy. I mean, anyone who ever touch GoW 4 would know that it has no similarities with Soul games. If he thinks combos are reason for that, then an entire list of games would be souls as well...which sounds pretty stupid to say the least. But I already notice the provocative behaviour of OP, while avoid explaining any form of reasons for our fellow members who asked explanation.

Nioh, definitely. Perhaps I would've answered differently about a month or so ago. But after getting a bit put off of Nioh when I first bought it, I picked it up and did another attempt and it clicked brilliantly with me. In a fitting way, it was the same with Dark Souls originally (bought it at release, was just frustrating and cumbersome, so dropped it, but came back to it a year or two later and it clicked).

God of War might've actually been good if it attempted to be a souls-like.

Anyways, all of the imitators pale in comparison IMO. I liked Nioh, but it isn't worthy to drink the sweat of Dark Souls's brow in my books ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I dont see many similarities between Souls and God of War 4 beyond some basic Action adventure mechanics shared with 95% other games.
Nioh surely shares more than just basics with Souls, however the Stance system and Mission based structure is quite a refreshing difference.

If God Of War is a souls clone. Then Gran Turismo and Forza are 3rd person, action RPGs with lifestyle elements similar to animal crossing and dungeon keeper with a tad bit classic LucasArts point and click adventures.

I’m actually replaying god of war right now and I gotta day it’s not as good as I remembered it. The combat is kinda clunky and garbage tbh.

It's the barrage of God of War comments that surprises me. How many times does it need to be pointed out? Do people even read anything in threads before posting? Did no one stop to think "hey... maybe someone already noted God of War isn't a Souls clone ... maybe I don't need to post that."

The good thing is that the TC was banned. I've seen he pull this shit in many other threads...

The OP knew exactly what he was doing with this thread. He clearly knew stating that God of War is a Souls clone and anyone who says otherwise is a Sony fanboy would cause the thread to be "derailed".

I put derailed in quotes because, in actuality, this is exactly how he knew it would go (except the part where he couldn't control himself and got himself banned).

I had a hard time getting into Hollow Knight because it felt so shamelessly inspired by Dark Souls. I wouldn't call it a clone though, but it's more Dark Souls than God of War for sure..?

Anyway I'm missing the option "Devs should come up with some new original ideas" 😎

What gets me is that God of War do take some inspiration from the Souls series. Copycat is obviously taking it too far, but this isn't this unfathomable comparison. OP is being wronged here and he's not even around to defend himself.
