I gotta watch some videos. My brother was talking to me about this and said something about mutations. Made it sound interesting.

This was made by a pretty small team as well. So need to keep expectations in check.

These developers don’t know what they have I could see this being a big franchise. It’s all interesting.

Out of all things I learned about this game from a YouTube ad and I watched to end and liked very much what I saw.
So looking forward it once it comes to PS5 for 40€.

Before its full release on May 25, we had the chance to check out a final preview of Biomutant. The game balances various mechanics and approaches to storytelling, which certainly make for an enticing take on a post-apocalyptic adventure game.

Described as a "post-apocalyptic kung-fu fable," the action and storytelling on display in Biomutant present an adventure that's an intriguing mix of the classic animated film Secret of Nimh, along with the platforming and action of games like Enslaved: Odyssey To The West and Devil May Cry. And therein lies the hook for Biomutant; it wears its weirdness on its sleeve, presenting an alluring take on what the post-apocalyptic Earth would look like once the animals inherit the world.

In our preview, we got a clearer sense of the game's focus on action and storytelling, and how the hero's journey will evolve in a world full of talking animals and decaying automatons. First revealed back in 2017, Biomutant is the debut game from Experiment 101, made up of former developers from the Just Cause series. Biomutant is a departure from that particular series, which instead focuses more on exploring a Zelda-like map with action-RPG mechanics that blend third-person combat and RPG-like progression.

Biomutant releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25th.

I'm genuinely interested in this. Remember thinking it looked good when it was previewed back in 2017. Seems they've improved quite a bit since then. If it reviews well I'll definitely pick it up. I really like the character and weapon art direction.

Biomutant seems really fun to be honest, not perfect at all (surely clunky) but with a vision of open world that i like. A lot of freedom, combat looks good with bullet time and aerial combo. The thing i dislike the most come from the art direction, lot of "toxic" environnement that i don't particularly like, but i can deal with it.

Not gonna lie, the trailers I've seen recently make me really want this damn game. I wasn't following it... till a few weeks ago. I don't know what footage that was, I'm guessing PC?, but it's looking pretty damn good. If they release a "next-gen" version/update... I'm probably in... right after I finish Returnal and once I get my fix of Rust :messenger_tears_of_joy: But I've never need afraid of buying a guy early, even before I have time to play it... maybe I have an problem 🤔

Any news on how this will run on PS5?

I know there’s no native port, but I’ll pass unless it’s 60fps.

huh, I hope there is options to customize HUD because its an interesting approach to show a full screen item whenever you loot. Would make you think the loot is less and thus more valuable, which I like. But then you see the quest tab (in their showcase video no less) where mission is like a collectathon.

Still looks so immersive. Small protagonist makes feel everything scale even bigger.

Combat looks fun and the world looks beautiful and inviting to explore but i just can't stand the chibi furries. Not a big fun of bullet time either (looks tacky to me) but overall this is a game that i'm curious to try. I hope it runs fine on PS4.

Biomutant (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is a long awaited open world action adventure RPG. After years of delays, it's finally releasing soon. Here's what you need to know.

Fare thee well

I'm usually someone who loves to obsessively customize every facet of my character, but I'm actually excited about a system where your character build choices affect their appearance. Really cool concept.

Cool. Here are some snippets from the PushSquare preview:

If we were to do the usual, reductive thing of likening Biomutant to another title on the market, then the Greek adventure Immortals Fenyx Rising from Ubisoft would be our answer. Don't let that comparison dissuade you, however. They may both use the open-world structure and trappings to tell their story, but Biomutant appears to go beyond the mechanics that have soured players in the past — this feels like much more than the "Ubisoft open-world formula". As such, those similarities are quite slim.

I enjoyed Fenyx Rising, so I was encouraged by that comparison. Fenyx, of course, takes a lot of its gameplay from Zelda.

It's good to hear it's not "Ubisoft open-world formula." It never seemed that way, but it's good to hear it confirmed.

Biomutant's open world will be split into seven large environments, all of which you can reach and explore after creating a character. The problem is that four elements govern how long you'll be able to withstand their effects before dying. Heat, Cold, Biohazard, and Radioactivity resistances determine whether you'll thrive or perish in any particular region, which highlights just one way in which Biomutant goes above and beyond typical open-world titles.

Interesting. Sounds similar to Zelda in a way, although the resistances are built into your character, rather than into clothing.

This really is an RPG.

Yeah, sounds fairly detailed. Lots of options. Lots of numbers to track, if you're into that. Potential replayability, based on different characters.

Art and creative director Stefan Ljungqvist remained a bit vague during the online presentation, but the story will seemingly be influenced by your own decisions. In practical terms, this manifests itself with an Aura system in the game that Ljungqvist assures is more expansive and detailed than a Paragon and Renegade system you would see in other RPGs such as Mass Effect.

So this is an online, hands-off impression, not a hands-on preview. Those tend to be controlled and curated. We may hear more about limitations (e.g., janky gameplay) once people play it for themselves.

Interesting to hear that the game's story will play out somewhat differently, depending on your choices. I've grown to be a little skeptical of those claims, since so many times, the differences turn out to be rather minor or only affect the ending. We'll see.

You'll be able to combine random objects found in the environment to create wild and wacky melee weapons while the developer tells us there are more than 200 million combinations of long-range guns alone.

Yipes, that's a lot.

... We haven't even had chance to talk about its free-form traversal mechanics, vehicles, and the unique characters you'll meet as you explore the world. One example was Sol, a charismatic frog who stood on his hind legs. We need to play it for ourselves to confirm our hype, but it looks like developer X101 is onto a real winner here.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, the game looks interesting, I don't care for open-world games because they are the same. But I don't know this looks new and unique.
