uhm at 5:34 he says the games uses Screen Space Reflections... when they clearly use render to texture or planar reflections (looks like render to texture at reduced quality)... no idea how he thinks these look even remotely like screen space reflections... like... wtf?

The modes aren't specific to next gen. They have the same modes on the PS4 and Xbox One. The performance is just better on the next gen consoles.

Which modes are these?

last gen systems (One X/PS4 Pro) have a 4K30 mode, next gen has 4K60 modes.
and Series X has a 1440p120fps mode, while One X and PS4 Pro have 1440p60 modes

the only one that is basically identical to last gen is the Series S since that one inherits the One X settings

When the PS5 is just running a smoother PS4 Pro version, it seems utterly pointless to be comparing next gen versions.

So why are they comparing PS5 and Series X versions?

Actually, don’t answer that haha

Do not get me wrong I enjoy DF content. But I feel this was a bit of a rushed video, the captured footage shown was from a very select section of the games. Dynamic rez and frame rate drops could come more into play on more demanding sections.

These are hella long games and there's three of them. I don't blame him for only sticking to the opening hours of each game on each console, in each mode. The testing matrix is huge.

The ps5 usually does not see any boost in games like this in speed as its running in a ps4 pro mode. I don't own this title on ps5 but I would say going by other titles the xbox loads at the same rate if not faster than the ps5, as it does not limit ssd speed for bc+ games.

Watch the video. ALL versions have Quality and Resolution modes. They just perform differently based on the hardware.

It would take them weeks to analyze every game on all systems. But your point is valid

so a 4K30 mode is the same as a 4K60 mode to you then? and a 1440p60 mode is the same as 1440p120? great to know! fuck the 2x increase in pixels per second right? totally the same!... after all the human eye can only really see 24 frames per second right? :messenger_winking:

Did they really skip a loading time comparison? I wonder why? 🤭

in short, the Series X load about 3 to 4 times faster than PS5. which is an often seen pattern when comparing games running in back compat mode. seems like a compatibility thing to ensure nothing goes wrong during loading is my guess. the only comparison I can make that is similar is PS1 emulation on PS3 or back compat on PS2, where you can enable fast loading but some games would run into issued having that on

Xbox has a massive advantage. But who cares? The only time people care is when it’s a Sony boy grasping at straws.
This so disingenuous on so many level. It's a backward compat game where we know 100 percent sure that series x will have advantage except a few games. Did sony fans make a big deal when skyrim and Need for speed remaster run better on the ps5? No. Xbox fans are playing victim mentality here even justify this is not a backward compat but somewhere in between. What a bizarre fan base.

That was due to some games using what was called asynchronous loading to stream data from the CD or DVD back then. There's no reason to do an integrity check in BC loading with games on the HDD.

I'm playing through ME1 on PS5 at 1080p 60fps and loving it as much as I did back in 2007, until I get a 4k Monitor later this year I'm fine with its looks tbh
