Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 | We Don't Need Roads

Where's the active pause at? I have no option at the top menu when flying...

It's weird, I just finished the update for PC and it's not in mine either. I had already set different keybinds to pause/unpause so if you're having trouble just search for "Pause" in the settings and it'll let you keybind it.

On another note, I'm now getting 65+ FPS in New York City on ultra. Holy fucking shit they did it.

Not just DLC but 3rd party DLC. It even has the developers name on it.

But, hey, Zinertek is probably just the name of some European city amirite?
Yeah it was the same thing with the older FS games. World updates free of charge, but stuff like certain airports and planes, you pay for them. Its mostly the hardcore enthusiasts who buy them anyway.

Holy shit these guys did it!

Before the update I got like 40fps in city.
Now it's almost locked on 60fps in city.
No change in settings on my end.
Going a little higher in altitude and it's locked 60 fps.

Using a mix of high/ultra and some on middle on 4k with 80% scaling (1728p).

Also RAM usage dropped from 15GB to like 9GB.

I got a Ryzen 7 3700X / RTX 3080 / 32GB RAM and a SATA SSD.

Tomorrow I will check out the VR mode on my quest 1 via virtual desktop.

We also got the console ui now on pc which is awesome imo. They redesigned the button mapping and we can now control the cursor with the analog stick. Great stuff for playing on the TV.

I'm fucking impressed.

This is probably me just being picky but the cities and buildings in this game do not look good. Everything else though is amazing looking too so the contrast between a city next to the sea and beautiful sky is often huge.

What city did you check/, and do you have a good internet connection?.
You could try pre-caching a certain city before playing, and then having another look.
Unless you have really fast internet, it doesnt load in the best building assets and textures, thats why they have the option to pre-cache, or pre-download a paticular area.

Just did my first flight. Left JFK and was supposed to come back to JFK, but landed (weirdly) on LGA... lol.

Had a great time looking around the city though. I looked for my place, but the area was heavily wooded, I couldn't make out near by.
on my XSX, it seems like running around 30fps or less in NYC - but didn't really find that bothering... considering how relaxing the whole thing is.
One thing though.. I wanted to fly under the George Washington Bridge, but they blocked it! It was like a god damn dam. :( Booo!

Otherwise, it rather relieved my stress a bit. I was having pretty rough day for work (doing remote) - didn't even get to have lunch at my home since being so busy...
I took a little break and did a little fly over on my yellow plane, and suddenly feeling a lot more relaxed. Strange - but it did... and it's my first time playing a flight simulator.

This is gonna sound like some PC master race shit, but as someone who plays a lot of PC flight sims with a hotas and rudder pedal setup, playing this on a controller is kind of painful lol. Maybe i can adjust stick sensitivities? I dunno, I think i'd rather have the hard drive space on my S.

But cheers to those playing this for the first time. Really is a marvel.

After 5hrs of downloading and decompressing it finally finished installing the new 1.18 update. I tried out Prague, Czech Republic yesterday to get an idea of performance increase from the update and I had about 25fps avg(~20fps low) @ 1440p/Ultra running on 2060 Super. Now in the same area I get around 39fps avg(~31fps low) at the same settings. Game looks great and feels way better with the console optimizations and controls.

Played a little today and looks lovely.

Do you guys just pick a location and fly for ages in one direction??
Trying to figure out where I'm going or where I want to go as its the whole world lol

Very happy with the update so far.

It broke my beloved DC-6 (CTD on approach to Keflavik) but PMDG will have it fixed within a few days I hope.

Sadly the game reset my settings, so I am not 100% sure what settings I was running with before, probably lower than what I have set now.
Before I was getting 25-30 fps. Now I am hovering around 40-45 no matter what I do it seems. A very promising start, I bet there is a lot more to be done with optimization from Asobo.
But most importantly it feels a lot more smother. I didn't see a single stutter from my testing today.

Wait a minute, the 1.18 is the new update?. Oh ffs. I was on 1.18 then the game said i needed to download the update, which it wouldnt do, so i uninstalled the game and started downloading again, and now because of the servers being blasted i'm getting download speends of 0.5mb/sec.
FFS game!.

Yesterday I was on 1.17.3.0. I booted this morning after the update went live and it just flashed the update screen for a split-second and loaded the old version. No updates were listed in the Content Manager, either. I reinstalled and the installation manager said 1.18.13.0 at the top. This is what I believe they call Sim Update 5(?).

Yep thats the game version i was on. I downloaded the game off Gamepass about 90mins before the patch went live, so i think they must of already included the update in the game download earlier, then when the patch went live at 4pm it triggered the 'new update available' thing in my game. That explains why it wouldnt let me download the update i bet. FFS!. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Anyone tried the VR yet? It was pretty much unplayable on any hardware before. I suspect it still will be on mine but I wonder if some people can hit that magic 90fps now

So yeah, I believe I talked shit when this first came out. I was like

ehh yeeh I have PPL licence, I don't need this, this is flying for poor uneducated people. I don't need this.

Gotta say, that I am some times really retarded and I happily admit, that this is probably the most....it's beautiful , I am still kind of comprehending, that this is real. I hate cars and shit, love planes. Really love planes and not going to lie, my eyes were sweaty few times. It's overwhelmingly amazing. Thank Asobo and MS.

Just noticed the Eurofighter Typhoon is available in the marketplace.
The Mach Loop experience is on!
(Once, I er... actually know how to fly these mysterious flying things)

Did you happen to post on the FDev boards for Elite Dangerous? Just noticed the avatar and the love for sims.

Have you all been seeing anyone else flying around in your games? I flew around Londa, Giza, Chicago, Mt Fuji, and San Francisco and never saw anyone.

Tested a bit.

- Harder to fly than I thought even with easy settings
- Clunky interface. No doubt its based on a PC/mouse interface
- Near the beginning of the game when you boot up, theres a splash screen with a yellow plane and a rhino. I thought it froze on me, but if you wait it out it worked to the next screen
- Great graphics. Smoother than I thought it would be but it'd hitch up in downtown Toronto. Saw the dome!
- But one thing that I think is inaccurate so it throws off your sense of roads is that big highways have intersection markers like it's a street with arrows or walking lines
- I had real time of day on I guess so after playing it for a bit it became night time so I saw shit except lights
- Did coordinates for my house but couldnt see it due to nighttime. I'll try again tomorrow
- Saw a friend online flying near me. Didnt see him during flight but saw him zooming around on the map

When you first start flying you're default plane is some shitty propeller plane. Skip it. Go back and choose a better plane. I took the first one shown which has much better specs and speed (looks like a small business jet). Moves much better

Played for a couple hours and did the first group of tutorials and then flew around my city (and my condo) which was fun. The graphics are pretty nice for streaming assets but as many have said the lower you are the worse it looks. Framerate mostly smooth except a few times but ive found out it doesnt like streaming frozen rivers as its all fucked up lol but eventually loads.

I really haven't had many problems using a controller so far but I have the assists on and thats just fine, not going for my pilots lisc.

My one gripe is that the default text size and colour on the world map isn't great for my rapidly aging eyesight. Is there anyway of customising the colour or font size???

Did you adjust the font size when first playing the game? I umped it up a couple notches. Though I dont know if that increases the world map text size.

Anyone else still stuck on 1.17? I'm on Game Pass and it updated when I launched it but it's still a version back.

Just brilliant.
Cant believe my house is in there - my car is even parked outside. Just crazy.
I did the set Bora Bora flight and noticed a tiny island in the distance - it took over 20 minutes but I flew to it.

I can see myself still playing this 10 years from now - ill be planning and flying trips for years.

Having some control issues unless its intentional. In the training stages my plane is pulling to the bottom right corner when I am touching nothing - is this intentional or is this a stick deadzone issue? Getting a flight stick is very tempting - no clue how I would properly set it up for couch/recliner gaming though.
