If the intent of Moba was as you say, then why haven't they reached out?

I read that Nephente 5000 word post--or what I could; a lot of it's unreadable--and one thing that stuck out was that the mods were discussing the banning of all Harry Potter references because of Rowling's politics. I don't like Rowling's anti-trans stuff, but banning the art because of the artist's private views is just horrible. Call me crazy, but you should be able to reference works of art, even problematic art, in a free society.

*I'm using "art" in the broadest possible sense.

**As someone who got permanently banned on Era for saying I support the idea of civil liberties, I'm fully aware that their mods and a big part of their community are actively opposed to a free society.
I disagree with you on Rowling's views being horrible, but your point is absolutely right. There are many things that bother me, but I know that banning them is just the first step to make sure the things I like will be banned too. The only way to avoid censorship is not censoring. I draw the line at physical violence.

What Era has not yet realized is that Mobafire currently has to go through a 3rd party to get ads. They currently are not big enough to do direct ad sales. Buying Era helps them to this goal of direct sell. Direct ads are going to be across all Moba sites, without exception. Their primary audience is LoL and other eSports games. This means Era will be providing a platform to hateful Devs and games.

Think about the Cyberpunk shit from last year. Now imagine CPR buys ad space with Moba. Now Era has ads for a game they barely allow discussion for. Do you think the user base won't flip the fuck out?

Era is a powder keg and Moba is the fuse.

I fully expect Nephent to be demoded in the next few months.

I think Era's lifespan will be longer than I originally thought (6 months or less). I now think we won't see the first major backlash until an advert goes on Era sometime in 2022. Bjorn will refuse to take it down. Cue another crisis and another thread in which we all get to dunk on them yet again.

I should have included this in my earlier post, but the reason Moba wants direct sale adverts is because there is no 3rd party to pay. Moba gets more revenue this way.

And to be clear, they currently do direct sale but not unilaterally. The higher number of page views across the Moba family, the easier and better rates Moba stand to gain from its customers.

Looks like Paragon is trying to show his colours wanting to be a new mod.

If a website like Reee wants to be social justice saviour, then you got to play the part both ways. And guys like Paragon just support mods. You cant say minority slurs are a big no-no, but then when someone calls a White dude a cracker, "it's not as bad so we allow it".

That'd be like a site banning people for calling others fat asses, but it's ok to call people chubby. If you're going to punish discriminatory remarks, you do it to all, or none of them.

ERA take on Cyberpunk was shit and out of proportions imo.
I don’t like the game and found it really bad what CDPR wanted to do with the state of the game (unfinished and released just to get consumer money).

But even so the hate about being homophobic or anything else was out of proportions… the action to ban any talk about the game was ridiculous bad and just showed how archaic and dictatorial the ERA’s mod team was.

In that specific case the MOBA influence will do more good to ERA than harm… it will probably allow gamers to talk about games without need to take a political instance or even forced to agree with some weird political instances.
