Yes they do. Ranking is based on how much money the object* is currently earning (not amount of copies or something else) and it's updated every hour afaik.
But there's nothing strange about it, very normal for a well advertised high budget or well known title.

*"object" as hardware, DLC or Season passes can get on the list.

Seems a perfect strategy, they get lot of money on a game that at this point has exhausted its sales potential on Playstation (it's free with the PS+ collection) and at the same time they bait a bunch of these people to play the sequel on PS5 next year instead of waiting indefinetly.

Some are going to wait years others won't.
Worst case they'll get tons of money for a 2018 game. Best case they'll lock new people into the PS5 ecosystem.
It reminds me when I played FF7 and FF8 for the first time on PC back in 90s. Since I wanted to play FF9 and FFX and there was zero certainty of those games coming on PC I ended up buying a PS2.

None. Its just people wanting another experience of "first time playing and experiencing world of warcraft." All my friends bought it, told me how amazing it was and now quit cause end game content sucks. People have no patience and just want instant gratification. So glad I am not dumb and do not follow the silly sheep. I warned my friends too but the impulses were too strong. oh well.
