Gran Turismo 7 Deep Forest gameplay

What I like the most is shadows. In-car shadows even in sport look terrible at places, low res, flickering, badning. In-car shadows here look mostly excellent and there's supposed to be a dynamic ToD system too, unlike Sport where it was static. It really adds to the realism, having an insanely detailed car model with all the knobs replicated and being fully round only to be ruined by the shadows was such a shame.
Yeah car shadows are massively improved in GT7 and the shadow render distance also.

My first serious play of a racing game was Grand Turismo 3 on PS2. Loved unlocking all the cars and events. With each generation they keep pushing the visual boundaries and realism... until now?

Watching this in 4k it just doesn't standout to me. GT7 has almost a cartoony look that I can't quite put my finger on. Even the cars, which are usually phenomenal, has visuals similar to those achieved in games 5 years ago. I had some concerns when I watched the original trailer about the scenery being underwhelming but kept it to myself. Now we're seeing more of it though, those concerns seem to be becoming realized. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the gameplay and handling will be excellent, but I can't help but be disappointed. I realize this is a cross-gen game, but I was still hoping for more.

I've posted a few screens and I know I'm cutting out the cockpit (which makes it look worse), but does anyone else get that cartoony feel from them? Maybe it's just the scenery or maybe it is just me...

I can't tell if there's something wrong with the color grading for whoever rendered the footage, or if it's just the time of day

Why on earth with that little background showing is there that much texture pop-in with the trees? Hopefully that's just a bug.

Also, I wonder if they have HDR on for the video. The inside of the car looks good, but it's very washed out in the exterior.

As someone that hasn't really followed GT since the PS3, I have to say I'm disappointed in what I'm seeing.

Woah, that looks shit! Seriously, wasn't GT always supposed to showcase the graphical prowess of the console hosting it? It looks a world apart from most of the PS5 big hitters. Not to mention Forza 5 or 6 or whatever sequel they're on these days.

They've fixed the paddle shifting animation from Sport but it still looks a little funky. Either way I've got my 25th anniversary edition pre-ordered and will be playing the shit out of this in my rig.

Looks great. I actually did a few laps on that track in GT PSP the other month. Fun game.

GT on the PS3 with the racing wheel was effing awesome.

I think the movement is exaggerated in the cockpit. Gfx wise it looks fine as expected really. GTS was already pretty looking game. But trees are too green for my liking. lol. I am more interested to know how of an upgrade Forza8 will be as it is meant to be for Series consoles only. Though I have pretty low expectations. I hope they release some gameplay for that as well.

There's some distracting pop-in in the trees. Also, the environment is somehow saturated yet washed out. Might be the time of the day.

Looks fine, reduced loading and a snappier UI is way higher in my next-gen wishlist than graphics for GT, hopefully you can boot it and be into a race within seconds rather than minutes this time.

I feel like polyphony peaked with the PS2 era gran turismo games, and just haven't really captured the magic since.
GT5P also was a visual masterpiece, it looked incredible at the time and was a true PS3 showcase.

I absolutely adored GT1 and 2, and even 4, but eventually I just grew tired of GT games. I couldn’t play 5 or 6 for more than a couple hours without getting bored.

I’m not a big racing fan, I don’t watch it or follow it at all in real life, so for me the progression elements are what always drew me to GT. Starting with a crap car and building your way up to get better cars and more money.

But eventually doing race after race just got so repetitive for me. Especially those endurance races my god.

Something is up with the colours in the video. You can notice it easily with reds of the flags as well as the suggested gear number icon beside the current gear number, speedo bar, ABS icon, and brake input.

It's the time of day. GT Sports has the same look in this weather condition.

I like what I see; great in-car camera movement, clean visuals, stunning lighting and decent AI. This will be awesome to play with a wheel. I can’t bloody wait.

I noticed it as well, for a second made me question my tv calibration. I think they have some bad tone mapping going on.

This is Forza Horizon 5

All racing games look like crap if you crop the image like this

If it were GT screenshots, people here would still write it looks like crap anyway, with that unnatural lighting outside and inside the car, mediocre interior details with low-poly geometry and disgustingly reproduced materials, straight out of a home fitness bike.

It has always been this way and it will never change. 🤷‍♀️

I honestly just think Sony doesn't care how lazy the studio is, and in turn the studio takes their sweet sweet time and puts minimal effort in. They're like Sony's gamefreak, only GF makes a lot more games.

Gt4 was it, then forza became the 60fps racer to beat.

I miss the days without damage, making hairpin turns and using other cars to bounce off of so you don't fly off the track. And seeing the cars you hit fly way off into the dirt. It was the best.

Forza Horizon is an arcade racer even compared to the mainline Forza games.
You should be comparing Forza8 to GT7.
Honestly I believe that forza 8 will make GT7 look even worse than it actually does. I expect the difference to be gigantic. Hell comparing GT7 with a huge open world game (and trust me FH5 is like the most open world game ever, you can go from point A to point B always at a straight line without following the roads at all) is actually a favour to GT7 because when turn10 unveils gameplay of Forza 8.....oh boy....
