Where do we go from here PlayStation Nation?

Honest talk, as someone who has primarily been playing on Playstation since the Ps1, I hope this at least makes Sony reconsider being a bit more consumer friendly. They've been annoyingly arrogant this gen. Specially in my region

$70 games while xbox is still $60 and everything is day 1 on Gamepass
They are scalping their own console with an official price of $650 for the Ps5 in my country while the Series X is $520
No form of regional pricing for our $400 minimum wage country while Xbox/MS does offer it
Paid next gen upgrades (after Horizon) on first party titles while they are free on Xbox.

I'm not a fan of giants like MS consolidating too many big studios. But to an extent I'm happy Sony will be getting some heavy pressure now.

Are there any other big MP shooters on PS outside of Battlefield and Call of Duty? If MS pushes this to be exclusive then that’s a huge problem for Sony. Although, I could see them bringing back Killzone to have an MP shooter if this was the case.

I imagine that making it exclusive would be very difficult though, especially if you consider how deep Warzone integration is with yearly releases and cross play. They’d effectively have to separate PS users as they couldn’t access the weapons and it wouldn’t be fair.

Interesting move by MS. With the move to make Elder Scrolls exclusive, I wouldn’t be surprised to see each acti-blizz game be exclusive to Xbox platforms (including PC of course).

We're fucked lads. At this point nothing is off the table. EA, Take-Two, Square, Sega, hell even Nintendo probably isn't safe.

I've done my best to support Jim through these difficult times but It's clear Uncle Phil isn't just out for blood. I refuse to be in the cross-fire. It's time for me to retire from the PlayStation Nation

Godspeed
this a bruh moment

If Sony or Nintendo want to carry on unfortunetly they’ll have to buy publishers and IP’s before MS owns them all. No more wasting money on timed exclusives and little studios lol

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
I'm going to stay primarily gaming on PlayStation but once Xbox start releasing this stuff I might have to upgrade my XB1

it makes absolute NO sense to take Doody off other platforms... it generates BILLIONS
Thinking about it though, MS are looking to have people playing game pass on as many devices as possible. Almost everyone has a smartphone and can access Game Pass services, so they would still be able to access the game through the subscription.

I’m not saying this will for sure happen but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to me if this came to be.

Luckily I don't care about anything Activision makes (well, I was kinda looking forward to Diablo IV), but I'm starting to get worried about the future of PlayStation being a thing at all. MS isn't gonna stop until they have made Sony irrelevant in the gaming market. And then we'll just have one big monopoly, with Nintendo doing their own thing on the side. Fun times.

Excuse me?!? don't drag Nintendo in this convservation.....they will be fine. They got Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Animal Crossing IPs

It's Sony that will start questioning their own existence soon

MS tried it once with Nintendo, they got their ass laughed out of the building

this news doesnt change nothing for nintendo

If MS buys a company like Capcom and Namco it will effect Nintendo.
Nintendo isn’t always successful, before the Switch they were struggling. If Nintendo has another generation like Wii U, Gamecube they won’t be able to rely just on their own IP, it hasnt always served them well

Smartest decision for sony would be to buy Take 2 and Square
Square or capcom would make alot of sense for Sony, as they already make alot of temporarty exclusivity deals with them. Take 2 might be too expensive.

The thing is with Jimbo at the wheel, i dont believe his interested in purchasing any big japanese studios, much less a publisher.

Sony will probably keep doing what they do by purchasing small/ medium studios, and creating new IPs.

I don't play COD, WoW, Overwatch. I dabble in Diablo 3 every now and again but it's not a massive loss to me in all honesty. Can't believe the price but suppose that's the market value, good luck to them, Sony have a war on their hands now for sure.

Then they face irrelevancy, the game has changed. I think they need take another look at their previous live action commercial. because they aren't declaring war, its Microsoft who is doing that.

Nintendo and Sony should join forces and take up the fight. I'm not even kidding. Both are "proud" Japanese companies who share a lot of cultural values etc (although PlayStation is largely run from the west these days), and I'm sure they would prefer to work together over both being made irrelevant by MS. Maybe include Sega too. And buy FROM.

Feels bad man. Especially since I play a lot of COD and no way microsoft is going to make COD multiplatform. Oh well, maybe Sony will finally revitalize Killzone or Resistance...maybe make a Haze sequel thats not shit?

Sony may have lost Spyro, but they still have another dragon game... Lair...lol.

It would be interesting how Sony will respond but knowing Sony, they wont. Keep making quality first party games Sony.

NOPE! NOPE! NOPE!

Sony is a fucking traitor, decided they wanted to be American company, they will need to sort this mess

I've said before, Nintendo has very strong walled garden, they have their IPs and Japan market they can withstand seismic megaton like this,

Sony is on their own, Fuck Jim Ryam!!

I don't play Activision games so this doesn't really bother me. Sony should try to go after Square Enix or Capcom. The IP those companies have is much more exciting to me.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
ok, realistically, i think Sony should ATTEMPT to acquire SE and capcom, its not as big as activision, but I personally would be very happy : D

Nintendo and Sony Merger is the only move that makes sense at this point. As you alluded to, they both have similar strategic focus in making bespoke hardware with an emphasis on exclusive software.

This Activision/Microsoft Merger is seismic and this is the only way I see Sony and Nintendo's business model surviving in the long-term. For Sony, picking up a Capcom or even a Take Two isn't going to cut it.

I’m an Xbox fan but this seems too crazy, I can’t see cod dropping PlayStation. I’ll still own a PlayStation for exclusives no matter what but I dunno. do think cod is too big to not be on every platform.

SEGA acquisition won't seem so impressive after this megaton.......actually it probably wasn't that impressive before :D

It's not those specific IPs that are the problem here (for me at least), it's what this might mean if MS just keeps going like this. There won't be a PlayStation by the end of it, they can't survive on just their own first party games.

Anything Sony does in response will just make things worse though.

All I can say is I am glad that over my Christmas holiday I put RetroArch on a Wii connected to a CRT, because it is going to be getting a fuckton of use if the industry continues down this road.
