Third party Japanese games is only reason I'm still keeping my Playstation, but barely get excited for first party games anymore.
Ive been happy with the 1st party games but Id like some more Japanese made games from 1st party too. Bloodborne / The Last Guardian style, plus Id love a JPRG from 1st party

And destiny is shit now. Funny how console wars work isn't it?
Nah Destiny was always terrible.

After buying Destiny and it’s season pass, I knew D2 would be just as bad. I would say buying D2 and it’s last 2 years of junk are even a bigger scam.

Now with the new content they want you to skip the old junk content promising that this new stuff will be better, (I don’t think it will)

Oof playing Destiny 2 is bad enough, imagine playing a shittier version of Destiny 2.

That should be saved for War camps or something.

If Destiny was going to be the Halo MMO MS were right to let them go.

I think Bungie's post on this and Sony's post on PS.Blog is pretty clear on this. They are going to stay multi-platform and they also said the same of any future IP. It's pretty clear I think. It's a partnership between Bungie & Sony — where they are part of PlayStation and also independent.
Recipe for disaster. Sony have spent nearly $4b. They can’t be dictated to by what is effectively now a branch of their company.

:messenger_bicep:

The game got boring, haven't played it since shortly after the PS5 version launched and those fuckers removed content, which annoyed me.
Nice, I love it when a man brings receipts :messenger_fistbump::messenger_bicep:

That what i said you can extrapolate a part of it and try to bend it to your purpose. But this just make.me laugh. The point of that discussion was that Sony cannot afford acquisitions of 30 + b. and it can not. They spent 3.6b in fact
You just clowned yourself. Be careful when posting "facts" you have no knowledge about. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'll never understand why people like Destiny. I understand, the game just isn't for me, but the grind, number of expansions, the way they lock out content. It's such a weird game that doesn't sound any fun to me.

Of course they're being vague. It's written PS exclusive. They carefully avoided putting "release on xbox". Not being PS exclusive means releasing everywhere but Xbox. It's seriously not hard to understand. But go on and live on denial if that makes you feel better.
It doesn't matter to me either way but I am telling you this is a partnership type of relationship and there is no reason for them to say it will be multi-platform if it isn't going to be.

If you believe Sony paid 3.6b to keep new games on Xbox, you're in for a rude awakening.
No I’m not saying that, I’m saying the statement they are making immediately after the purchase is weird. And it’s not like they have to do it for regulatory reasons so I’m confused what the point is.

Also I know everyone says that whenever there is a purchase but I really don’t mind Destiny 3 or anything else Bungie makes being exclusive to PS5/PC.

I love the game and being able to hunt for guns and add them to your collection is what I love about it. The recent Grasp of Avarice dungeon is super fun. PVP is definitely due an update but even as it is, it's fun.
100%.

Love it too. Comfortably my most played game.

But I’m not sure how big the player base is these days. Sorting out the Crucible would really help. They need to get supers out of pvp or at least have a playlist that eliminates them.

Seems a bit high, especially because they don't have that many IPs under their belt (did they kept any from their older buyouts?) But it makes total sense. FPS experience, multiplayer experience. Something that it's missing in Sony's portfolio. I expect that we will see a new few ups from them in the future.

Still, feels weird to hear this news, is like the third time someone has bought them and they end up fighting to be independent 🤣

They do it to calm people down. There's a lot of Destiny players on Xbox and they don't want to upset their fanbase. I don't care about this purchase tbh because I don't like FP games or GaaS.

Thing with Destiny is just like 343’s effort with Halo 5 - the gunplay and core mechanics are tight and sound. It’s just everything else that is a bit wishy washy. The studio is capable of putting something amazing together.

People can forgive annoyances as long as the gameplay is good. And it is good.

It's a first person Diablo with the best gunplay on the market. I understand your critiques (and agree with them), but the game can be quite fun.

Agreed 100% but I'd want them to keep supers in PVP but having a separate playlist without is fine.

Yeah, there is no doubt about it. They are low key downplaying it but that is pretty much expected — as sad as it is.
Why would people be downplaying it when they are remaining multiplatform?.
And trying to suggest anyone who doesnt like Destiny 2 is some undercover Xbox fanboy is ludicrous. I put 12 hours into Destiny 2 on Steam and couldnt take anymore. I actually was going to go back and play through the campaigns but Bungie took them out. Yes the actual Destiny 2 campaign isnt in Destiny 2 anymore lol.

is this just gonna be the great gaming landgrab where Sony and Microsoft are just going to go on spending sprees buying up whoever they can get their hands on?

Is EA next? Does anyone actually want EA?
There is one company out there that would need a company like EA to help bring their vision to full fruition...

How do you know it won't be good for PS? They are exactly the type of developers Sony are lacking in their roster. Fps and multiplayer games is what Sony will need.
They have about 1000 employees. That's enough to make 4 games at once.

4 games that wont be exclusive from a developer that is a shell of its former self...whoop de fucking do sony is saved

It doesn't include time on Orbit or Social places.
I hope their new game can give us the best of Destiny and not Destiny 2.

Destiny was actually the best Bungie ever delivered.
Sadly they moved from that with Destiny 2 :(

The similiarities in the discourse of bethesda/activision chatter on this forum and the now the sony bungie acquisition stuff are not a fluke. And yet you have people on here who swear up and down that the xbox stuff will remain exclusive (future games) but yet the bungie (future titles) will not because of sony exec/bungie exec statements,
9Lbhjl7.gif

If you believe ms is willing to keep the stuff exclusive then u also believe this is just pr fluff for now from sony/bungie, u dont get to have it both ways because there are quotes out there that indicate bethesda and activision games will still hit playstation at some point from spencer himself.

This is a move imo to keep ms in check u want future bungie stuff? Dont fk around with activision stuff.

And nothing of value would be lost. Not trying to be an edgelord but 2 cunty companies hoping in bed together? Fine by me. Even Respawn are pretty trash now.

So now Bungie is Sony exclusive. I doubt anyone thinks Bungie games will be on Xbox going forward, and Sony will not make a statement "we plan to honor all commitments" etc.

Destiny 1-2 servers will be shut down ASAP for Destiny 3 which will be PS5 exclusive.
Bungie literally posted about it on their site saying they will still publish and be multiplatform. None of this makes sense if true.

He doesn't. This is denial and downplaying. This thread is full of salt from the same people who would be praising if this was MS get.
I think many of us are waiting for all the Sony fans criticizing MS deals to go into profitability analysis mode and evaluate why spending $3.6B on a game company whose last game is Destiny 2 from 2017 is such a great deal. Lets see that net present value payback analysis.

Oh and here's a good one Sony fans kept PRing which can be aimed at Bungie too as it's the same concept...... how long is it going to take Sony to recoup $3.6B of profits from Destiny to pay off the acquisition?

Bungie has been fully multiplat with Destiny from the beginning. So it's not like Bungie is one of those tight know studios partnering on Sony exclusives either. That's another criticism of MS deals. And Sony did the same.

If the Bungie PR is true, it looks like Bungie can even do their own thing without a leash so their future games will go Xbox and PC too.

But why? They could have bought Sega or Konami for that...
It seems Sony doesn’t give a fuck about gaming IP.

All the studios they buy dont really have valuable IP. Insomniac, Bungie(I guess Destiny), Naughty Dog, Blue Point, Etc.
I do think they might buy Sega, since Sony Pictures might want Sonic back. Sony treats Playstation like their side hustle when its their money maker for some reason. I read articles how Sony studio heads are salty about Sonic. They pretty much created the movie, then lost the rights.

Xbox don’t have a single studio on fighting games, so any fighting game that comes out will be coming out on PS; MK, Tekken, Street Fighter. All of them.

DMC and Resident Evil? Just normal single player games that Sony already produce.

Monster Hunter is the only one that’s different due to the online co-op element but there’s no room to introduce MTX etc so what’s the point?

They have Killer instinct but my point was more what if MS purchase IP’s like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, or Monster Hunter. Id hate not to be able to play those

DMC and Resident Evil are classic Playstation esck franchises. And Playstation dont have a survival horror game like Resident Evil. The franchise is a hugely popular IP.

I woudnt care what Playstation bought before, I was happy with them expanding studios slowly like they had been before. Working with studios exclusively and creating IP’s and then purchasing them.
But with MS buying 3rd party IP’s and Publishers, Id like Playstation to stop some of them going to MS. Desiny wasn’t a IP I care about losing even though Ive played over 1000 hours of it

Question for the people asking what the point of the purchase is (since they are saying multiplatform):

Are you questioning why Sony would make as much money as possible with multiplatform, or wondering if someone else is going to make as much money as possible with multiplatform?

It’s so hard for them because they’ve built this idea of a living, breathing world. It’s not like CoD where you have no connection to your character; much more like WoW.

If they could add random playlists, I’d love to see a ‘grounded’ type game mode with standardised weapons and no supers. Team death match and control. Would play it forever. But that doesn’t fit the lore, so won’t happen.

Looking forward to Witch Queen. Still trying to grind a decent Ikelos smg. Damn you world loot pool!

Some thoughts:
- If the deal has been in the works for around 6 months, could this be the reason why all the expansions left Gamepass?
- I love Destiny, bought a PS4 to play it with friends and played all Destiny 2 expansions on Xbox but, although I have no idea of their revenue numbers, 3.6B$ seems a lot
- I don't expect new games to release on Xbox, multiplatform means PS, PC and maybe smartphone
- it's kind of weird seeing how Bungie went from MS to be independent to Activision to be independent and to Sony now. Why all those changes?

ND has Uncharted and Last of us. Pretty big. Insomniac has Spiderman. Huge. I'd say this post is full of it.

I genuinely thing the Activision purchase is worse than Mojang, Bathesda, Bungie - all of them. Activision is literally just buying the casual crowd.
I agree, but the casual audience brings installed base, which in turn allows for big development investments. I'm not playing CoD since ps3, but I'm happy that it contribuites to grow the installed base for titles that I like.

And in my opinion, Bungie doesn't has nor the past value and talent, neither the Sony phylosophy of game development.

But I would be happy to be wrong when I will see their first Sony title.
