Square enix.

They are in bed with them already and also considering they are going big on multiplayer and live service FF14 would be a huge addition to that.

Maybe Google buying Ubisoft. They are the only ones who seem to make an effort with stadia

He's just throw random guess, and see which one will sticks, he doesn't know a thing.

Notice neither Bungie or Activision/Bethesda was rumored by any leaker.

These kind of billion dollar deals are need to know basis or else you open yourself to SEC investigations and deals falling apart.

I like Grubb but you lose credibility to me when you start talking about things way out of your depth.

Maybe one these pubs buys the other. Then puts a catlog of games into gamepass and sony via a seperate sub add on. EA buying Ubisoft would create a pretty big catalog. Or whatever two companies get together.

At some point Sony and MS arent gonna want to spend more.

Nintendo buying Capcom and/or Kadokawa is the only one I'm interested in, the rest is meh....

Kadokawa is cheap, about 1.5B
Isn't tencent a large shareholder of kadokawa as well?

I'd say sony would buy From Software in an instant but it seems to be more complicated and i don't know shit about business xD

Well I think we can safely rule out Microsoft because if it were then his camera lens would be covered with semen.
lol...well i can always end wrong but i don't see Ms buying another publisher this soon unless is forced. At the same time I don't see Sony take the rest of their 20b and spend all just for hr playstation division also because from the way Jeff talks it would seem an even bigger acquisition than the one that Microsoft made , and I don't see Jim persuading shareholders to borrow the company to spend 60 70 80 or more. Instead, I think Amazon Google Disney or Apple are moving

From Soft was on sale in 2014, and Sony didn't do shit!! ......It's around the time when they were working together for Bloodborne no less

Sony will not buy a Japanese company, Japanese market is the least of their priority

The stakes just went waaaay up along with the prices.
If Bungie is worth $3.6 Billion, Square-Enix/EA/Ubisoft is like $75-100 Billion a pop.

Sony will likely be buying up Japanese publishers now, just because I don't think they can afford the remaining western publishers, and would likely be bidding against Apple/Amazon/Meta anyways.

Insomniac must be on suicide watch now too.

Times have changed and From Software have grown a ton in popularity over the last couple of years. Who knows what happened back then... but the bethesda/microsoft deal changed everything in the gaming landscape

Man I hope this consolidation shit ends. This is going to suck in 3-5 years.

Too late now. Microsoft, Sony, possibly Nintendo if they catch on and others (Google, Amazon, Apple etc) all want the best content to add exclusively on their gaming subscription platforms, or games to release on other platforms that they can squeeze maximum revenue from.

Give it a few years and there won't be any independent gaming developers or publishers. As soon as somebody opens a new development studio, it'll instantly start an intense bidding war by one of the major subscription providers. That's before the new studio has even started work on any game.

The gaming subscription war has just begun.

Besides convenience/price. Sometimes i wish i had a console still because i fucking hate the upkeep that PC's require. I just want to fucking game, not enter bios.
...then don't enter the bios? Like why would you ever need to enter the bios? I built my current pc nearly a year ago and that's how long ago I saw the bios as well; it's running 24/7 and I reboot it maybe once a month.
"upkeep" is a myth.

All of this acquisition stuff is kind of boring to be honest. Companies buying companies but no games are being announced so I don’t really get what the point is at the moment.

We’re in a time where games are less about the passion and what players want and more about making as much money as possible. Gaming feels more like a business than it ever has done before to me and all of this is making that clearer than ever. Consolidate everything and maximise profits.

I’m coming across as a grumpy old bastard but at this point but modern gaming fucking sucks outside of a few games (mostly Japanese ones). I’ll likely stick with Nintendo from this generation out and possibly PC providing part prices stabilise.

MS and Sony just feel like they are in a bidding war where what the players want aren’t really in their interests.

Then don't enter the bios when you just want to play. Why would I enter the bios when I just want to play???
...because of upkeep. PC's have problems incredibly more often compared to a console. Most people who buy consoles don't know anything about computers so the idea of them doing that sort of thing is unrealistic. Duh.

Yep. MS was only swinging for multiplayer games when they bought the Elder Scrolls IP and Bethesda. How much has Skyrim sold now?
Skyrim has sold 30 million I guess from googling. A lot more than any FROM game, because it has a Sims-like adult modding community keeping interest alive. But Bethesda also is a GAAS studio (I mean they invented horse armor) with Fallout76 and a couple of mobile games.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
SE AND CAPCOM PLESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

AND KADOKAWA AS WELL : P

I think Jeff Grubb must be banned as source, he has zero insider info and only is throwing some random guesses when saying stuff like that.

We already know that Sony, Microsoft, Tencent, EA, Take 2 or Embracer are acquiring and that plan to acquire more. Plus who knows if Amazon, Google or Facebook will decide to continue buying.

Pressing the on button and clicking "ok" if a game/driver/OS wants to update sure is harsh. of course the consoles do that, too, but there you can use coloured buttons.... Much simpler ....
.....
....
"PC upkeep" is complete and utter nonsense in the windows world at least.
