This metaverse gimmick thing is going to be a huge fail.
Maybe, maybe not.
As many of you know, I try not to force my personal views in regards to business. I personally don't really use any of this shit, don't care for it, don't plan on using it either, but I also don't play Fortnite or PUBG or use Tik Tok or anything like that, but I also never use that to gauge pass or fail or anything of the sort.
Sure, this could be a flop and fad, it could also be the next internet for tweens and turn into a massive thing for adults too. Its hard to tell some times, but if I see Epic, Facebook, MS all spending massive money in a area, I need to pay attention to that too businesswise. They might really be on to something if those applications fit, work, become massive genres etc. Look at Minecraft, imagine some new game like that in such a world, we can see it move 100 million or more over night. Crazy shit like this move fast.
but to your point, they can be a huge fail too. Wii fad didn't last, Wii U flopped right after and that wave was done, 3D tvs with games was a fail, 3D in general was a flop lol, that AR crap that went on for a while and many more. So I do get where you are coming from, but I'd recommend getting in on the ground floor. It could be worth you time based on what industry you work in or invest in etc.
I myself admit I fell victim to this type of thinking. I own a few Etsy stores as an artist, was making ok money and ignored Pinterest. My sister keep telling me about it for years mind you, so I start marketing on other platforms outside of Instagram and Facebook annnnnnnd I was fucking wrong, Pinterest is where the majority of my sales came from, its now like 90% where I market cause that now. I wish I listened, I wish i kept that open mind and tried it out and I wish I was on the ground floor when so many were posting and marketing on there.
If you see a new platform come out and you run a business, even if its just a little bit of money, market on there, its why I was even telling people to try out that whole Onlyfans game thing lol
Sorry for the baby forest lol
TLDR. Sure it sounds stupid, but shit so did Twitch to me back then. "Oh play a game online and people just watch you? huh?" yet look at it today. Look at Tik Tok today, if you get in early and establish something, you can reap huge rewards and maybe that is what Epic, Facebook and MS are trying to do.
