I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
This Joe Smhoe is one of the worst fanboy i have ever seen on twitter, if you think the fanboys here is bad, hes on another level.

I dont think he even sleeps tbh, hes just constantly tweet negative Sony stuff

This is basically Sony admitting that they can't compete with MS when it comes to the long game. At some point Sony will just have to face the fact. MS is a $2 trillion dollar company with unlimited resources. Sony is barely a $100B company and in our lifetime will never come close to sniffing the financial might that MS wields. After the Activision deal closes, MS can easily go out, acquire Ubi, Take-Two, Capcom, EA and that cost would still be chump change to them. MS will become the dominant force in gaming. It's not a matter of IF, but when.
If you think Microsoft would ever be able to buy all of those companies i have bad news for you.

It's not about if they have the money...it's the fact they would have a monopoly on their hands...that would never be approved

I don't think they would buy all of those companies, but I do think they will push the envelope to as far as it can go.

People clearly not aware of the guy but yes. How did Take-Two, EA and co become "their devs"?

They are pointing out that other publishers would have a difficult time creating a competitor. They are explaining the landscape to commissioners who ask for information like this because they don't have a clue about the landscape and ask the industry.

I mean clearly nobody has seen the 'whining' MS is doing about Android, Youtube and Google search to the EU commision yet.

It wouldn't make sense for them to have all those studios to control and be a part of their company.

It's not just about buying studios. It's about keeping them as well. There's a lot more to it than just throw money at these companies.

Like with psygnosis?

No, Psygnosis had no industry leading franchises, when it was acquired by Sony, last I remember; At its peak, It was nowhere...and I mean nowhere close to what ABK represents today . Also, Psygnosis was bought by a new comer, which had the excuse of getting into uncharted territories: MS has had 20 years as a player in the market.
There is literally no precedent to this move, regardless of your allegiances/preferences. That is a fact. 😀

Psygnosis at one point had 45% of the marketshare in Europe. Where does Activision have 45% marketshare?

Honestly. Who cares? Call Of Duty is just a generic military shooter that has the casual crowd. I'd much rather Sony focus on being Sony. And that is, add to their 1st party, introduce new IPs just like the do every generation. They should remember to cover the fps and wrpg genres.
Look at the thread title then look at this. Thread title is click bait and people don't usually read beyond the thread title.

Reading is important:

OP you need to go back to school to learn to read FFS 😂

They’d be paid out, the owners of Activision don’t own a 100% stake in their company either.

yea, but what kind of premium do you think they'd want on top of an already outrageously expensive deal. sony controlling unreal engine would also be a tough sell for regulators.

You realize that the company that cost £20 millions in 1993, kept releasing titles on the Saturn and N64. You realize that the european market at the time was a big joke, literally, when it comes to home consoles (93). Are you even old enough to remember the Psygnosis games?
People can not be serious when they try to suggest that this move resembles that move.

From reading the text under Sony’s name, I don’t see them mentioning their first-party studios anywhere.

It looks like they are talking about other third-party developers.
Most memorable playstation games are actually third party. Play Astros playroom on PS5 and you will see how many of the little game references are from Capcom, konami, Square, etc.

We don't know what "all those studios" mean at this point. We do know that MS has said they're not done when it comes to acquisitions and expansions. So clearly Activision isn't their last acquisition.

Psygnosis owned 40% of the european market at its peak, Sony had a monopoly for a decade there and only got a threat with Xbox 360 and then Switch. I find ironically hilarious when EU questioned since outside of UK Xbox has been in a distant third place but that's their obligation.

So similar to today, just inflated. It was a big deal at the time when they did it.

Similarly based on what we've heard Activision games will still be released on other platforms.

Lastly yes I am old enough. I played plenty of Psygnosis games as a kid on PC (mostly Lemmings though on my 286) maybe I had a 386 by the time Lemmings came out. I can't remember.

Oh yeah, same deal, just inflated. 🤓🤦‍♂️

if Microsoft goes out and acquires Ubi, Take Two, and EA they're basically going to have regulators on their ass. They will never grow to that size without the government stepping in, and even if they did all they'd really do by acquiring those companies would just be to kill all the brand recognition and household names they have by making it exclusive to Xbox. Why the hell do you think MS is keeping COD and Minecraft multiplatform? It's not because of investors like everyone says, but the simple fact that keeping COD exclusive would massively decline their sales and revenue. Exclusives don't sell well, and they don't do well in comparison to multiplats, and on a platform like Xbox with a userbase smaller than the other 2, if they even attempted that it'd be futile. The only company who can do that is Nintendo, because their consoles and IPs are so recognizable, they go beyond video games and are icons of pop culture. Mario's more popular than Batman, Spiderman, Mickey mouse and Sonic the hedgehog. Xbox and Playstation aren't exactly popular to anyone who doesn't game and are completely out of the loop with video games.
Even then, it was never MS's goal to acquire the entire industry. They don't give a shit about that kinda stuff. They just want everyone to subscribe to Gamepass. If they can get the most popular franchises of all time on their platform to achieve that, they're gonna do it. It's not about acquiring the whole industry, it's about getting the most gamepass subs.

Some people are legit stupid enough to think Xbox will throw away money by ignoring COD on PlayStation platforms. A platform north of +140 million users. Like....FUCK !! 😂
Yeah screw PlayStation, because lets keep COD exclusive to Xbox only and ignore the millions of dollars in additional revenue the IP can generate on competing platforms😂

Platinum’d it. While there are references to third-party devs in Astro’s Playroom, the vast majority of references I can remember were homages to PlayStation in general.

1. Never said MS would make games exclusive. I'm well aware of COD and Minecraft.
2. Never said MS is acquiring the "industry".
3. I said they would become the dominant force in the industry, because of GP.
4. GP will not only offer the best value in gaming, but also the service with the best catalog of games. Until Sony or Nintendo are willing to match GP with their respective subscription services, GP has no competition at this moment.
