What's the deal with moderators on this site lately?

Here ya go. Enjoy the mod comment too where they stroke off to penalizing people that have a differing opinion on their game whilst reading a thread about someone not giving the game a 10/10.

You knew what you were doing.

The people calling Sony games "interactive movies" know exactly what they are doing. Thankfully, so do the mods.

This.

Seriously, enough with the account moderation/ban threads. Some of these beautiful generous members don't get paid till the end of the month. Pace yourselves god damn it!

If that's what you got hit for, that's pretty wild.

No, it's really not.

When a game features some industry leading game mechanics and has more gameplay than it does cutscenes how exactly is it an "interactive movie"?

An interactive movie is something like Black Mirror Bandersnatch and the closest things we've had to that in the gaming medium are things like the telltale games, experiences like Her Story and Quantic dream's games.

To argue God of War is similar to those games is intellectually dishonest and is not the springboard for anything resembling an interesting discussion, quite the opposite actually.

If people just want to blurt out disingenuous one liners without being reprimanded then maybe they should stick to twitter.

I'd interpret it as a sanction for a low effort opinion, not because it is a disagreeing opinion.

The argument about interactive movies has been used ad nauseum. It's not interesting, not worth sharing.

I bet there are other aspects of the game that can be criticized.
Well the term cinematic game literally could translate to an interactive film. It’s a low effort insult. But it’s what many games actually go for. Hellblade 2 is trying to get cinematic lens to be recreated in their game.

Yeah but God of war is 294274746274 times more gamey than something like hellbalde 2, they are not even on the same universe dude, the gameplay trailer for that one had barely any gameplay at all.

Latest gears of war are considered gameplay centric pure third person shooter and they have like over 4 hours of cutscenes.

Well that reminds me of people that say PS or Xbox have no games. Are they moderated?

I hope they are because is categorically untrue for any platform. It's the kind of thing it only has the purpose of incentivizing low effort discussion. Social networks are filled of that, why not go there and discuss at the same level?

You said it: it's intended to be an insult, not a description. For example, an extreme example can be found on MGS4. One could be snarky and say it's an interactive film or one could be objective and say that more than half the time spent on the game consists on watching cutscenes. What do you think it's a more interesting and useful opinion?

Many things can be said about games, why go with stuff that not only is not true but doesn't add anything to the discussion?
