Do steelbook cases piss anyone else off? Is it just me?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I ordered a few games from Target's Buy 2, Get 1 promo earlier this week. The games I ordered finally arrived today. One of the games I ordered was Persona 5:

The product photo shows just a regular Switch case - cool. What I got was the steelbook edition (which, if you click on "details", then click "more details", I guess it says it's the steelbook edition). This thing is unruly and doesn't match any of my other Switch game's cases. It's taller and wider, and the spine isn't even red unless I keep the slipcase over the steelbook. I like to keep my games ordered alphabetically, but I had to put this one to the side since it doesn't match. I'm planning on either waiting until the game is super cheap to order a second (correct) copy, or going on eBay and buying an empty case with the insert. I already opened it (because I thought the slipcover just had the regular case inside) so I can't return it.

Yes, I know it'll play exactly like the non-steelbook cartridge. Yes, I know I'm weird for it bothering me. Is anyone else like this?

Not had many steelbooks but the ones I got came with the original case as well.... But yeah I'm never going to have steelbooks on a shelf.

I feel your pain brother:

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I have over 300+ Steelbooks for films alone.
If there is a Steelbook with good artwork I get it.
What fucks me off is I have a nice hardcase sleeve with a Steelbook for God of War (2018)

Then Sony ships the sequel to it in a bog standard case like it's some straight to DVD shit

Yeah they did the Collector's Edition that had no game included( a digital code in a Collector's Edition is the dumbest shit I've ever heard of, even dumber is a Digital Code in a Steelbook inside a Collector's Edition, like WTF)
and that was sabotaged by Sony themselves.

First world problems

This takes me back. I spent so long years back, collecting every Stephen King book under the same republisher so they all had matching jackets. I aged out editions for newer ones with the same style of spine/jacket.

Took me a good while and was only missing a couple near the end. Anyway I split up with my ex and she fucking got rid of them all. Moral of the story is she was a real bitch man.

Wait the Steelbook is taller and wider?
Most steels are the same size 🤔
I understand your pain then.
Hated it when PS3 games would come with the DVD size Steelbook because the 360 used them.
Strangely enough most US version of PS3 Steelbooks was the correct size.
But most EU/UK Steelbooks they used the same Steelbook for both PS3/360 depending on the publisher.
Ubisoft did this mostly.

Sorry OP, i used to be a steel box collector in the old days _ well at least for my most wanted games and preferred franchises _ nowadays im all digital. But after seeing your game shelf picture i feel your pain. Do what you have to get that red box in your collection if that's what makes you happy, you should be proud of it!

Wasn't there an issue with Halo 3 and steelbook cases way back in the day? It had to do with the discs getting scratched up in the steelbook cases during shipping or delivery or whatever. We're going way back to the 360 days.

Dude, collections like this astound, impress, and deflate me. I think of myself as a games enthusiast, my biggest hobby, and you're over there fucking opening a Gamestop.
Probably why this thread triggered me so much. I always have WAY more to play than I have time to play.

Also - I sold about 3/4s of my collection a couple of years ago (and made enough money to put a down payment on a house!) and even this photo is probably still only about 1/5th of what I have left...

Haha, yeah, my backlog is crushingly large were I to factor in all of the things that I'm interested in, but not enough to pull the wallet trigger.

My collection used to be a lot larger, but I hocked a good portion of it at ma and pa local game stores when I was having some tough times making ends meet about 5 or so years ago. After that, my geography made it more convenient to go primarily digital. You should post the full collection at some point, I admire the meticulous attention to detail.

I doubt that had anything to do with the Steelbooks, the inlay is plastic just like any other case but less flimsy.
If they was damaged during shipping or delivery a standard case would have been more damaged along with the disc's

Steelbooks don't bother me unless I am forced to buy them. I put case inserts and games into a small binder and toss the case because I can't afford to waste space.

My digital games steel book cases really are a pain, I agree.

Sounds like you need to get over a small thing.

Nobody gives a fuck about your “issue” anyone that visits won’t either. You don’t need to look at your game cases often.

Buy an empty Switch case, print off the cover for pennies at a copy shop and then your extreme OCD will be ok.

Also consider finding some help, it’ll improve your life in so many ways.

Umm you may need to be the one to take your own "advice". OP minor comment about consistency... Is all.

OP is perturbed enough by this issue to go to a message board and complain.

There are possibly other small issues that bother OP that doesn’t need to bother them, if they look into it they may have a life with less anxiety, (don’t kid yourself this has brought anxiety even if it’s a small amount it’s still there) which would be better for their life and their loved ones also. These tiny things add up. Hell they don’t need to see anyone they can even read a bit on OCPD which is different from OCD but might be the issue.

”Look for help” has become an quickly used pejorative, but it’s not meant to be negative, people can use self reflection to help themselves. You shouldn’t dismiss these things, look into the real issue.

What’s the 6th game from the left of the last shelf?
Super Bomberman R. Yeah, they fucked that one up pretty badly too but at least the case is the right size.

The steel book itself should be the same size as the traditional switch case, but it comes in a sleeve which increases its size.

Personally I don’t mind steelbooks and will even display some on a wall when they are beautifully done, such as the Valkyria Elysium steel book - but most tend to be fluff or ugly so I just sell them or keep them in the collector’s edition box.

If it was offered for every game, but yeah if you're even somewhat OCD, I can see why it would but you.

For instance I had Halo 2 steelbook afaik, but not the first game.

Same thing with platinum hits, greatest hits, etc. I hate the disparity in artwork and case color.

Personally, I think steel book cases are cool. If given the option and the cost is the same, I always go for em.

I love steelbook case but I get why it pissed you off for your collection.

I personally organize my games by franchise (all platforms mixed, it makes more sense to me classifying by franchise rather than platform) so it's a mix of all forms of cases (And in general I don't like stuff which look perfectly aligned/clean/tidy up) so steelbook are not a problem for me

Where can I find a large adjustable shelf like this that doesn’t have the cases hanging over the shelf?
A shelf that is deep enough for movies and games.
I bought one and the shelf is about an inch too shallow and everything hangs out. I hate it and want to replace it.
