Yes and rightly so. Fuck Xbox as a brand. Even the people at the helm don't care obviously.

At least come with a date or something. Hell, I jumped this sinking ship months ago and even I am angered by the fact they just blatantly leave people hanging.
It's not a good look and it will hurt them A LOT.

You know there's no way anyone will say a thing like that, even if any game never ends up being ported, right?
There might not be any games coming to other platforms. Or they just say its for the Switch And they have a partnership with Nintendo

Maybe he mentioned the future of the Platform and just talks about the Handheld and Streaming Stick, that would also kill all the rumours

Whatever happens during this Business Update Xbox are screwed.

Unless they are specific as to exactly which games are going multiplatform current and future, gamers will just assume that they will all be (eventually). Just like how (Xbox) gamers assume that games will eventually go to Gamepass and so just wait.

And I don't know how they send the correct message. Its going to get confusing.

Perhaps they'll announce that only Xbox Game Studio's will remain exclusive and games under the Bethesda and Activision umbrella will be mulitplat?! That would explain Hi-Fi Rush. But then you have Sea of Thieves. A XGS game. Although that's a GaaS and so would benefit going multiplatform it just muddies the water.

If Phil ends the Business Update maintaining this case-by-case approach to exclusivity, they haven't made things any better. The leaks and rumours have caused too much damage at this point.

Maybe.... as soon as a game is announced (for the first time) they also announce there and then which platform it will be on without any delay. And then by sticking to that approach gamers will see a clear path looking forward as to which games are exclusive and which ones are multiplatform. And I actually think that the games would have to be released on all systems on the same day as well. There cannot be any doubt. Exclusive or not exclusive, and the games must remain that way during the time they are sold.

Didn't even consider that first point (about just waiting, ala Game Pass).

And you're exactly right! Anytime they announce a new game, folks will wonder. If they announce even one exclusive is headed to other consoles this week, the floodgates are open permanently.

People thought that about Playstation games heading to PC and those gates haven't opened fully

I remember a bunch of blue bloods saying there was no reason to own a PS5 if they port a single game

Let me ask you a question: if the rumors are actually false, how do they address and squash those false rumors in this event?
They don't have to talk about any rumor at all.

You are simply setting unrealistic expectations to prepare your next narrative, which will be stuff like "Phil lied again" and "They didn't deny X and Y rumor so they are happening" etc... We know quite well how you work.

Affirmative, but going forward, the expectation that PC will see PlayStation games is real, whether they wait six months or two years. Of course, because this isn't a day/date situation, and a chunk of their properties are wildly popular, Sony continues to see massive success regardless of how long they wait. In Xbox's case, they presumably aren't seeing the returns needed to sustain single console exclusivity, and thus, once the other consoles get some of their games, many will just wait. Perhaps enough to not even warrant skipping Day 1 anymore.

It's already been confirmed the newest build of Hifi rush has Playstation assets in it now, so it's not going to be that

There is nothing wrong with saying "Other games, except SOT and Hi-Fi are not coming to PlayStation and Nintendo" if that's the truth. What's the problem with that?

Also, that's the only to squash any false rumors.

Because its probably undecided for now. I doubt the plan is to make these two Xbox ganes multiplatform, and then no other games for the rest of time.

If you name specific games that are staying exclusive, you generate speculation about all the games you don't mention.

Maybe they'll add something to clarify like "no other games will go multiplatform in 2024".

Upgradable Xbox that takes advantage of DirectX abstraction layers and dual boots Windows (with full functionality) and Xbox OS. Base model comes with equivalent PC hardware to run Xbox Series X games and only costs $599, coming in November.

If the insider reports are anything to go by, Bethesda as a company are doing everything they can to convince Microsoft to let them release on other platforms, the exclusivity is seriously damaging their brand from a financial point of view. We've already had a number of podcasts with insider knowledge mention this in the past week

Why wouldn't ANY studio want to sell their games to millions more potential customers?

Exactly what developers have been begging for! More Hardware profiles to debug and optimize games!

Which is exactly why this "Maybe it's just a few games that are going multiplat" wishful thinking is a foolish view to take

If this is having such a huge impact on a company like Bethesda that they are having to go begging to get their games on other consoles, imagine the impact this is having on smaller studios

No you don't. The community does that.

It's like saying " I love waffles"
Someone might spin it as "So you hate pancakes?" <- Community

That's a different subject. Telling what IS to come isn't the same as generating speculation. You just took some doubt away and gave clarity.
It's the tinfoil hat audience that creates speculation.

Then they should develop for PC exclusively. Or do we want a hybrid? I sure as Hell don't.

A modular console is a pc with a Non Windows OS. Nothing more.

Xbox going multiplat is inevitable. It was always going to happen.

Xbox has always been an unwanted console. Xbox 360 was an anomaly, mainly due to PS3’s mistakes. Other than that, Xbox has always been a poor seller.

More so, in totality, Xbox has not been profitable. Buying up big publishers really highlighted to MS how Xbox is such a money pit, hence the decision to go multiplat.
One thing for sure though, MS is definitely not leaving gaming, they see how lucrative the industry is and want a slice of the action. Eventually, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Meta, X, etc will also want a piece of the action.

Despite RROD, I thought 360 was an excellent console in its own right. Evolved online console gaming , had good features for the time, a great controller and some excellent games.

It was 1 hell of a system! Made many friends across the world with Xbox Live.

Xbox Live was some next level stuff compared to the barebones PS3 experience
Customer service was out of this world
Top tier games
Xbox Live Arcade was a neat and yet underrated feature

I preferred it over the PS3 by miles.

Me too, it’s what made Xbox great.

If it wasn’t for Warhawk and Uncharted , Last of Us, I probably wouldn’t have bothered with PS3 at all.

In my opinion Xbox One/Series pale in comparison and that is what disappoints me the most.
