Phil Spencer: announcement this week

My prediction is that Halo and Flight Simulator, etc, won't go to PlayStation and Nintendo any time soon, but all of the studios they snapped up — all of that will port over. Hardware will continue.

Game pass will stay on Xbox, Phil will make sure to emphasise the value for loyals there but also the generosity of "when everyone plays we all win, blah blah blah." A consumer friendly angle will be bolded, etc. Some hardcore shills will be pissy and do pissy things and go into therapy over a plastic box, but all in all everyone will return to regular programming soon enough. Maybe a handheld announcement, idk. Having eyes on the mobile market makes sense currently.

When the hell is this update going to happen my popcorn is getting cold. Update: just saw it will be a podcast on the 15th.
Ehhh no. They have let this smolder for too long to be forgiven/ forgotten.

No updates, not 1 tiny bit of info to ease the masses. They simple sewed their mouthes shut and watched the internet fight from the sidelines.
That is NOT a way to treat your (future) userbase. Not by a BIG margin.

It's obvious that Xbox isnt for the players. Its for the payers (shareholders)

The whole we've been listening, we hear you thing.... Yeah choke on it Phil. You outright lying little shit!
No, business will never return to normal for Xbox. And rightfully so. They commited corporate suicide.

Anyone defending this business practise and thinking it will blow over should go see a damn therapist

lmao they could have just released the podcast on Monday and got done with all the drama.
last week was the first time I heard of this Phil dude.
Based on what everyone on YouTube and Twitter and NeoGAF and Earth are saying about him, he sounds like a quiff

Hey boys,

is there a stat where we can see how many of those sold Xbox units are “Xbox only users” or “multiple console user” ?

Major changes or just all hands on deck positive reinforcement of current business plans?

It could go either way but at this point i think this is all going to end up a big nothingburger.

They are not gonna get the top three heads for a special podcast just to say "Hope you guys are excited for Hi-Fi Rush" of course there will be major changes announced.

A!

No way this thread isn't 100 pages before MS Show starts.
I'm doing my part...kinda.

Somehow this is barely interesting to me. I think once Phil said he would speak on it this week I just kinda tuned out.

Guess I got a lot of reading to do. Same thing happened with the ABK Deal. It was like oh we going to court? Yea...ok I'll be back when that starts.

That's not only what corporations do. That's what corporations are supposed to do. The attachment people feel to brands is something they create and fuel for profit.

And when they are nice and behave in a way that seems to benefit the users too, it's for profit. And that's ok.

What damage? some speculative articles that will have been proven to be wrong "In fact, post Activision acquisition Xbox revenue is stronger than ever" and some cry baby influencers that are going to back pedal and celebrate the non-death of their favorite plastic box?

In the eyes of general consumers this probably didn't even register a blip on the radar.
Yeah specially considering Xbox is in nobodys radar anyway... in fact this "event" might put them on the radar once more... but since is a nothingburguer ...well tought luck

When I played Diablo 4 on my PlayStation 5 and had to use my phone to scan a QR code to login with my Blizzard account, it certainly felt like a different ecosystem.

Similarly I can see how playing Gears on the Switch counts as being in the Xbox ecosystem.

What is with this need to make non-Xbox ecosystems "count" as an Xbox ecosystem?

Basically Sony hasn't done anything to earn the success it has this generation

That's nuts lol. He must be using the "too many cross-gen games" lame argument. Or the "Sony 1st party aren't making enough games that aren't remakes" lame argument. It's only those two things that people reach for nowadays.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
This whole thing just made me realize even more how little I truly care about Xbox. They could go ENTIRELY 3rd party and my gaming schedule wouldn’t change. They simply have no exclusives I care about. They don’t make my style of games. They are an AA powerhouse, I’m someone that loves big budget AAA games with good stories and high end graphics.

Hellblade 2 looks like my kinda game. That might be my last hurrah for the brand.

Richard tried pushing back but John was just rambling it was such a weird diatribe when they should've been talking about how Xbox got in this position.

I have a feeling I am going to sleep during the podcast.

I am no longer expecting any new meltdown. Kinda sucks.

Fuck you Phill. Even in meltdown you can't fucking deliver.

You better bring halo infinite to ps5 shadow drop after the podcast.

I want sea of tears god damn it.

Manipulative AUs in the board meetings and to the public.

And they want the keys to the AI/Cloud kingdom where they hope (their goals) everything goes through them. Your data is the precious minerals, you see.
Tried really hard not to make a C&C reference.
