This list kind of sucks, to be honest. Outlast? And no Dead Space? Come on lol

Their reason doesn't make sense if they include R2R.

R2R is just as action packed as RE4R and Dead Space.

Then you add in Alan wake 2?

It's not even a cohesive list following their own logic.

RE2R and SH2R are my all time favorites.

Never have I agreed so much on someone's opinion. This is perfect. I would also Evil Within 2 as well, has a special place in my heart. Open World horror is hard to pull but I think Evil Within 2 did it in a fun way. Unique. EW1 is a classic, as raw as it gets.

Or more like these lists not caring enough about classic games or indies besides a few famous ones. Or putting two or more games of the same ip for a top10. Besides, a top10 is a very small list. No Fatal Frame, Darkwood, Eternal Darkness, System Shock 2, Siren, Signalis, Cry of Fear, Song of Horror, Stay Out of the House, Dino Crisis, etc. And that's just talking about only survival horror games and not horror games in general.

Couldn't get into Clock Tower but I got respect for it simply because it's based on one of my favorite horror movies Phenomena by Dario Argento.

Honorable mention to SH1, Extermination, RLH, and Martian Gothic.

Clock Tower is great, and is also inspired by Suspiria (a lot) and Inferno (a bit) from Dario Argento.

Hifumi Kono wanted to create an experience that made us feel as if we were inside one of Argento's films.

Because they are (unfortunately) right. Action horror games are NOT survival horror games even if they have "survival elements".

That being said there are games on their list that still aren't survival horror.

Honestly not a bad list, super based decision regarding RE4, not so sure about Dead Space though.
Alan Wake 2 was so good, it's always fun to see GAF seethe because of it.

Lmfao why is Outlast there then? It definitely isn't survival horror. The Dead Space Remake definitely is though (even though the original isn't).

Tbh though, not the worst list. Outlast and Alan Wake 2 should be out. Signalis and Fatal Frame 2 should be in. RE7 is debatable too, but I don't hate it's inclusion. You could also make a case for Amnesia: THe Bunker over the original, but Bunker is also just worse Alien Isolation. Other than that stuff, the list is good.

I usually like to give IGN a lot of crap, but they are right with that statement. I do not consider RE4 and Dead Space (among others) survival horror. I call them action horror.

The bad thing about IGN is that it lists trending games.

It's good that Clock Tower is on the list, and it deserves it.

But if it weren't for the recent release, I bet they wouldn't even mention it.

Haunting Ground , Fatal frame 2 , JU-ON Wii and Rule of Rose are missing.

I think that anyone that has played Rule of Rose would never put it on a "best of" list. Maybe honorable mentions for atmosphere and story telling but that would be the limit.
